    Fresh pineapple

What does this do? I haven't done any searches because I am lazy. I think it helps ripen the cervix?

Did it work for you. I love fresh pineapple and it has been hot so won't be an issue for me to eat it. How much should you eat? I do tend to go overboard so can you overdo it? What else is good? Not sure about the curry thing as I am terrified of the after effects and still having them in labour

What other things can you do to get baby to come near it's due date? I do realise I can do everything and baby still won't budge. I will be starting lots more walking, lots more fitball from probably Easter Sunday (3 days before DD). DH is due back in our home town 10 days after DD so we are on a bit of a schedule. This may be able to be pushed back a bit, we will see. I don't really want an induction for 'convenience' (non medical reasons) if I can help it, but will see what happens.

Personally I think the thing about fresh pineapple is a load. I've been eating it all along because I like it and have been craving it.

Uhm... There's also Raspberry Leaf Tea, some people swear by it. My dr. said to drink as much of the stuff as I want, even if it doesn't do anything it won't hurt. I reckon I can feel the difference, though.

Exercise is a good one. Try squatting- feet flat on the floor and toes pointed a little out, and ease down into squatting position. If you can't go all the way down that's ok, go halfway and hold it.

Also, sex/orgasming. Orgasms stimulate contractions, and semen has prostaglandins in it that can help ripen the cervix and trigger labor. I think that's right, working off memory here. At any rate, sex is a good one.

    This is what I've read...

Pineapple is said to induce labor as well. Pineapple, as well as papaya and mango, contain a proteolytic enzyme called bromelain. When bromelain is consumed with meals, it assists in the digestion of proteins. When taken on an empty stomach, bromelain acts medicinally as an anti-inflammatory agent. Therefore, naturopathic medicine uses this enzyme to reduce pain and swelling.

The mechanism by which pineapple contributes to inducing labor might be the proteolytic action of bromelain. Bromelain might help to soften the connective tissue of the cervix and, thus, bring on labor. Because bromelain is destroyed in the production process of canned pineapple, you should consume only fresh pineapple flesh if you are trying to induce labor with pineapple.

    Thankyou for your replies

I figure it can't hurt. I do like fresh pineapple but have been staying away from it knowing this can be a 'side effect'. I guess like most things it works for some and not others. hopefully I can find a yummy one
