I did the same test last week and it came back positive for GD. I had my session at the hospital today (by the way it was the Lyell Mac - are you also booked in there, if you don't mind me asking? And are you being seen in the Birthing Centre or the Family clinic? )

Anyway, there were 3 of us at the session and we were seen by a diabetes educator, a midwife and a dietician. To cut a long story short we found out about how insulin works, why it works less well during pregnancy, how to better manage our diet, the risks/effects on the baby and how to test our own blood glucose levels (using a pin***** and a little monitor thing).

They gave us the monitor and some testing strips to get started and gave us an application to get our future tests cheaper. The whole thing took about 3 hours and was quite cruisey really.

The midwife freaked me out a bit by saying that the baby would have to go to the special care nursery and we would most likely have to be induced early and many other things I didn't really want to hear - but I have since checked it out with my regular midwifery team and the info was wrong - and in any case with you probably having a caesarean it's not really relevant to you either.

Good luck with everything, sorry if my reply was too long winded. Finally, don't worry about the pin***** test - I was worried about it and had to count 1-2-3-go in my head before I did it - but honestly it didn't hurt at all
