bump! anyone?
my bub is transverse and I want to have a VBAC, I have next appointment on wednesday and am considering having an ECV, has anyone here had one and if so was it successful, I don't care about if it is painful coz I would rather that than an inverted T c section with a 2 year old and my DF only getting 2 weeks off work. Any advice would be great!
bump! anyone?
I didIt wasn't painful for me (though I've heard it can be), just a bit uncomfortable. Amelia turned very easily from frank breech. Apparently the medication they give you can make you nauseous, but I don't think it was administered properly with me because I didn't have any of the signs they told me would show it was working
I think doing a few Spinning babies exercises helped her move so easily, so you could try those beforehand?
I would prepare yourself for a c/s just in case, because there are a few risks with it - increased chance of placenta abruption, the baby might go into distress, it might not work... But if you prepare and keep positive, it definitely helps![]()
thankyou Tenibear, yeah i have read up on the risks and will try anything at this point! and hey whats one more bout of nausea after 8 months of it already! so glad it worked for you! hope it does for me too!
I had one at 36 weeks. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable - they lay you down but tipped slightly so your feet are higher than your head. That and lying on your back with all that weight is interesting. Then they give you ventalin via IV to soften your uterus for the massage, and the ventalin makes your heart race. So that is what I was unprepared for, I ended up getting oxygen via a mask to calm me down, and then needed a cool flannel for my forehead afterwards. Not that I want to scare you, it's just things I wished I'd been prepared for. But the actual massage to turn the baby was fine, and happened quite quickly and easily, and my bubs was frank breech.
I also don't know if my reaction was stronger because you have to fast for a few hours beforehand, and I had GD so my sugar levels dropped quite low.
I've had one.
It was excruciating- and she was too far "stuck" for it to have worked anyway.
They gave me ventolin to relax my uterus, it made me feel like I was in la-la land.
In saying that though- you gotta do, what you gotta do....
I would have it again, if it was needed.
GL hun.
Ps mine was for a frank breech baby.

One of my friends was booked in for one, but her baby turned from frank breech the night before! And her waters broke. And baby was born the day she was booked for the ECV, lol. Do it, you might scare the baby straight - good luck for your VBAC![]()
this could be what I'm heading for too. will find out at my 36 week appt next week. bubs has been breech somewhere after my 24 week appt and I don't think he'll turn between now and next week. he seems quite settled head up and up high. I've been reading the risks and this does scare me. though I want to avoid a c-section if I can. OB said bubs' bum hasn't engaged so I've got a good chance of it working for me.
incomplete: It ain't over till its' over, my little one has managed to turn itself, had a scan yesterday to check and apparently there is less than 20% for transverse to turn, he even said breech is better! so hang in there!
Lots of sitting on a fit ball now to keep things moving in the right direction?
I can't remember how it works, but after my ECV I lived sitting on a fit ball for 3 & 1/2 weeks to make sure she didn't flip back round.
My OB, midwives and physio all recommended it.
