The heat or hormones?

Hey there everyone!

Is anyone else unlucky enough not to have air con and who is struggling with the muggy hot weather conditions lately as well? It's so hot and muggy here all I wanna do is sleep It is taking every last ounce of energy out of me, I notice I am alot more exhausted and tired after a real hot day than a cooler day.

I feel really horrible because I snap at my almost 3 year old daughter Lily for the most smallest things that wouldnt usually bother me, then my husband gets home and he cops it from the second he steps his foot in the door. I try my best to keep the house clean and to do what I can but my belly is already that big at 29 weeks I am having troubles bending over to reach the floor and so on. I am one of these women that gets enourmous during pregnancy, I feel so fat and so un sexy, and I swear to god if someone tells me how big I am for 29 weeks again arrrrgh!!!

When I am not pregnant such little things wouldnt usually bother me, and I get extremely irritated when my husband doesnt cuddle me or tells me he loves me when Im angry tired or upset. This bloody heat is so hard to live with being this big its rediculous I was bawling today cause I dont have air con. I am drinking tonnes of fluids and dont even feel like eating because of the heat as well.

Anyone got any ideas for wild hormones out of control? As much as I try to control it - it seems almost impossible to do. I really think the heat is making the situation a whole lot worse, I am wet in sweat all day in and out of cold showers, I dont even know anyone with air con so I can go there to get out of the heat! I think I am feeling it alot more now I am this big. I started off 60kgs at the beginning of this pregnancy I am already 80kgs, I think I got to 89kgs with my last one, and Ive still got 11 weeks to go! yikes! help!

Sorry Danielle, no helpful ideas - but rest assured you're not the only person who's been in tears over a lack of aircon! We live in a stinking hot unit without even awnings or proper blinds and on hot days I lose it completely! I check the weather forecasts twice a day to see if there are hot days coming up because I dread them so much. And - at least for Melbourne - the hottest month is yet to come...

Do you have any relatives/friends with airconditioning who you can spend some time with?

We moved from Sydney to Brisbane and we need the air con. Our electricity bill was thru the roof this quarter....

My hubby and I want to move down south to Melbourne as sick of this humidity....

Try going to the movies or a shopping center? I like to go shopping when its way too hot. (brisbane, no air-con either, also 29 weeks.) Even when I don't buy anything (often), its nice to be out and about, walk, look at things and watch people without dying of the heat.
I'm having a bit of a hard time atm, too. I don't have a small child to look after, but I get so breathless and hot just trying to keep the place clean and tidy. Try doing 20 mins up, 20 mins down (or whatever small time chunks work)- and when you're down have a fan turned way up and pointing on you?
When I find myself getting irritated over things dh does lately, before I do or say anything I try to step back and ask myself if it is something that would usually bother me (that is- is it something he knows not to do, like pile garbage on the top of a full can or *shiver* lick his plate). If it is, I say something respectfully; if not I bite my lip/tongue/flee the room/focus really hard on whatever else I'm doing at the moment until my irritation fades.
I'll be blunt- Snapping at your dh isn't going to make him want to cuddle you.

Also, I really hate eating at the best of times, and this heat has really zapped my appetite. But its really important for us to eat, so I have several tiny minuscule meals of carbs/fiber/fruit during the day. Then at night I have a few small portions of protein. It helps.

well I cant really go to the mall or anything when I want cause my hubby takes the car to work every day, we only have 1 car between us at the moment. Makes it rather difficult to get to ante natal appointments and so on sometimes. My little one is almost 3 and doing really well with potty training at the moment, but still has little accidents here and there, today she had an accident of pee all over the lounge and my pillow on the lounge, so I had to scrub it all clean so it didnt smell of urine. Then directly after she was layin on her tummy in the middle of the hallway and pee'd where she was lying eating an apple, so I had to mop all that up, then I had to get down on my hands and knees and wipe it all dry with a towel after mopping so she wouldnt slip up - gee that was hard work bein this big, and then I noticed ants everywhere through the loungeroom from chips she had earlier, it wasnt just crumbs - she had poured the whole packet all over the floor and stomped them into crumbs! I was going for like 2 hours without stopping cause it was all things I had to do right away otherwise would of smelt or been icky! Oh and she had a poo poo accident today and decided to investigate what was up her bum in her nickers, there was poo everywhere, all over the potty, all up the wall all over my bed. Oh dear how happy I am this day has ended. I am finding all of this so hard being pregnant so huge not being able to bend or get to the floor easily, puffing and panting in the bloody heat! Me and my hubby are talking about getting air con so fingers crossed, I sure as hell know it will make my life alot easier during the day!

Just needed to vent a bit its all out its the end of the day I hope tomorrow isnt as bad. Or it even makes me thinkw as today really that horrible? I deal with things like this on a day to day basis being a mumma I think it might be an overload of hormones and the heat at the moment.

Learnt this trick from my hubby when he was looking after DD. On hot days if she got a bit messy after a poo he would take her outside and hose off the excess. I was horrified at first until I realised that DD was delighted. It cooled her off and got rid of the mess. Another tip is a blow up kiddies pool. You can both sit in it and have a great time and then water the garden afterwards.

We've all felt like this one time or another. Don't feel bad, venting is healthy.

Oh you poor thing. :hugs: You must be finding life so tough at the moment. Pregnancy hormones are hard enough to deal with let alone the heat as well! I live on the coast in SA and couldn't live without an aircon on some days so I don't know how you survive with the heat and humidity in Qld! I'd be tempted to buy a cheap kiddies pool and set it up in the house somewhere to sit in (and just hope it doesn't leak !!). It must also be really difficult with only the one vehicle. Is it a possibility to buy a cheap secondhand aircon from somewhere and just prop it in a window?
I know how you feel about DH, I've also been very emotional lately and DH doesn't seem to support me in the way that I would like - quite simply a hug and kiss and to be told you are amazing and beautiful can make our mood really shift and make us feel amazing. If only they just did that though .
I have also been bigger this pregnancy and don't you just hate it when people just have to point it out, again and again, arrgghhhh!! Being big makes the littlest things so hard to do and it can be SO frustrating. I also have a three year old whom can really test my patience and it's amazing how many times I seem to have to be on the floor each day. Well all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy. Thanks! I am alot better today it is overcast today, but its still all humid and muggy as hell! I think sometimes I just get really worn out with my 3 year old, and the whole potty training thing, which she is really good with but has been having alot of accidents lately. We ended up with a whole potty of pee up the wall and all over the carpet yesterday, little mis independance wanted to empty the potty herself! lol. I just find myself from the time I open my eyes to when I go to bed like... go go go. Guess it just makes it harder being this big too. I'll get there I am alot more relaxed today. I wish men could do the whole baby carrying thing, I would be happy to do it until 6 months then pass the job over, thats when it gets tough. apart from early mornin sickness as well gee oh gee how do we all do it? We are all born miracles
