    Question Hiccups

I saw a thread about this a little while ago but I can't seem to find it again.

How often is normal and how much is too often to be getting the hiccups?? Now that I can finally feel them she has them an aweful lot. I am not really worried by them, I was just wondering thats all.

PS This question was on behalf of my DP, I should get him to get his own account!!!

    Hi,
During my last pregnancy my bubs seemed to have the hiccups constantly. At first I didn't know what it was. It felt like a pulsation feeling until my midwife told me what it was. Isabella is nearly 6mnths now and she still gets the hiccups often.
    Regards,
    Dianne

My first DS used to get the hiccups constantly when I was pg with him! He used to always get them when I got into bed at night too . He also got the hiccups heaps when he was born. All very normal!

DS use to get them at least 3 times a day when in my belly.. lasted around 5-10 minutes i guess. He would then get them a bit when he was born, but hardly ever does now.
Its very normal, and just shows theyre practising their swallowing etc.. all a good thing.

I'm averaging two or three times a day so I feel a bit better now and will let DP know.

Dianne - It is a weird feeling isn't it. DP only asked if it was normal the other day when you could actually feel her hiccuping through my belly, she must have been in a nice posi that day.

My little bub gets them at least two times every day. Usually at night when i want to go to sleep, about 4 in the morning when i am trying to get back to sleep and usually around dinner time. Sometimes they can last 15-20mins!!! they were cute to start with, but now get a little annoying!

My little one is getting them at least twice a day too....
Taurusa - I also thought it was very cute to begin with, but it can get annoying when it is happening quite often!

    Hey
My bub is getting them once a day at least.
I'm hoping now that I'm overdue they might break my waters!!
I like to feel it. Makes bub seem just like me.

Dumb question - but what exactly does it feel like? Is it the quick rapid all of a sudden succession of movement? My bubs doesn't seem to stop moving but every now and again feels like its cutting moves on the dancefloor. Is that the hiccups?

Molly Jane got the hiccups about 3-4 times a day through the pg and this has continued on the outside! its all normal, and i am pretty sure that it is caused by them swallowing fluid - which is them practicing feeding.

juleswa - for me it felt like continuous but evenly spaced movements - like a soft kick, but in time. i usually felt them stronger than what could be felt on the outside and they were lower (when she was head down) as it was her chest moving. Sometimes i would get a kick or a punch if they were going on for a while.

I actually miss them when she has them now!

My DD got them 2-3 times in my belly and at first i thought it was just constant kicking but realised they were hiccups later on.

She gets them now at the same time (3 weeks old). Very cute in the belly but not so cute when she gets them now because she cant sleep.

I think they feel like a really strong heart beat... they feel pretty rapid at times... sometimes really slow..

Jules: Taurusa is right, they feel like a tap and you mght mistake them for a little kick or punch until you realise they are coming in regular intervals.

My DD used to get them every night when I got into bed... kept me awake LOL
I just loved (& still do) hearing/seeing her with the hiccups after she was born, its kinda like a little bond I suppose you could describe it... anyway, because it was between her & I every night it feels a bit special to me

Madeleine still get hiccups and it's funny to watch them now, because it reminds me of when she was inside the womb and getting them all the time!
