I've just picked up some epo this morning - I didn't take it last time and am hoping this will help things get going and I won't need to be induced again at 11 days over!
I've read the bottle and the bb article, so I know to take it from 36 weeks onwards. The bottle says three a day with meals, article says 2-3 a day and can be inserted. What would be better? Does one work better than the other? Also, the bottle says it relieves pms symptoms - I now have a lovely idea of it making my contractions feel better I can dream right?
I started inserting them at 36 weeks. We use a bit of lube because it can be tricky, they are slippery little buggers to hold on to apparently. lol
I don't know if I can reassure you that they will help you to not go overdue, I've done it 2 times previously and DD2 was 12 days over and DD3 was 11 days over. I think some people are just slow cookers and baby comes when its ready to be born, not if our cervix is ready to expel it LOL
RLT will help with your contractions more than EPO as well I believe. As a uterine tonic it helps prepare your uterus for more effective contractions - so its said to be a shorter, more efficient labour (dunno about pain free though!)
Not what I wanna hear! I'd really love to avoid induction this time, and seeing as I finish work at 34 weeks I don't want to hang around at home forever waiting.
I got rlt too, will start that tonight. I think that did work well, because while I started off slow to dilate and nothing at all happened until induction, when things finally started the contractions were brilliant and very effective.
With my last bub from 37 weeks, I took 2 orally and had DH insert 2-4 Internally at night (wear a pad cos they make one biiiig mess)! At 38+5 my cervix was very closed, 1cm and high. My DD was born 5 days later. No idea if the epo actually helped soften cervix
My contractions hurt, a lot more then previous babies. I also drank RLT from 28 weeks.
Well apparently if you have a handful of dates a day from 30 weeks that can help you from going overdue, so you could try that theory instead of just relying on the EPO
I said I would do it, but I've been a bit slack - I don't have a handful a day but I do have something every day that contains dates.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the dates! I tried them last time but only had dried, and ew they were foul! Will try to find fresh ones. So between rlt, epo and dates I'll see if I can get going at least on time or if it's all a myth!
It stinks. I did it with DD1 (induced 13 days over) but only once o twice with DD2 because I couldn't stand the smell. It makes your vagina kind of greasy for 16 hours too. Wear a pad! I was much happier to go over than deal with that. I took it orally though, I could handle that.
16 hours?! Far out... At least I won't have to be going to work all greasy lol. I'll try at least one night internally - DH is quite excited to put them in for me the cheeky bugger
