I can't see a problem with it - I lived on ice cubes from about week 24 onwards I just couldn't get enough of them. And both my babies turned out fine

I wouldn't think the cold would affect the baby.. it does wake them up and make em squirm tho! hehe.

Just watch you don't chip your teeth with the icecubes.. I've been told by a specialist that icecubes are bad for your teeth.

Same here with my last pregnancy in third trimester, it did help that it was hot hot summer!! It seems to be a common one actually. As the others said, the cold just wakes bub up nothing else.

Its part of a condition called Pica, where you "crave" eating things that have no nutritional value, and its not uncommon in pregnancy.

you're lucky its something edible -- my cousin had the urge to lick matchstix through her pg - yuk

I ate icecubes and broke 2 teeth during my pg lol

i had pica in a bad way - use to crave sand! At one point DP acutally went and got me some beach san, boiled it so it was clean, let it dry, an then i ate the grains... i couldnt sleep until i had satisfied the cravign! My dr agreed it was fine lol, just pica. Beats my mums unusual craving of vegemite, tomato and vinegar s/w pmsl!!

It may also be a good idea to have your iron levels checked too. Chomping on ice can be an indication of anaemia which is not uncommon in later pregnancy

I was going to say the same thing - before I had my levels checked, I craved ice and had it all the time. After I found out I was very low in iron, and started to take more tabs, it stopped

OMG at eating sand, the things our bodies make us do!! PMSL

I had this too, I would eat at least three trays a day, as well as having bottles of frozen water in the freezer AT ALL TIMES! I would wake in the middle of the night with an insatiable(sp?) need to have ice or cold cold water. I even took to eating frozen peas at the end of my pg!

thanks everyone..i will keep enjoying my ice cubes lol (its gotta be better than munching on chocolate all the time)

I am another ice cube muncher through my pregnancies and labours too.

I will just walk up, open the freezer and grab out a cube or 2 to chew on, or get a glass of water and shover 5 or 6 cubes in it. One the up side, it is making me drink more water

But yes, be careful of your teeth, I have done damage to mine chewing on so much ice.
Atleast it's a non fattening craving to have.

Funnily enough, both Noah and Tehya love ice now too.
