Hi Ladies,
I'm 33 weeks and I have a question about discharge. My doctor has been a bit dismissive...
At 31 weeks I suddenly had a gush of watery fluid mid morning. It wasn't heaps, but it soaked through my knickers and pants - so I changed. It eased up really quickly but the midwives got me to come in to the hospital. I had put a pad on, the midwife tested the pad and it was little bit positive for Amniotic fluid, but she said it could just be discharge which is known to give a false positive. They then did a test on a sample taken from an internal and it came up negative. But I well and truly had a dry feeling by then. I have been dry since (and before) that incident, and I have no trouble with bladder control, sneezing etc is not a problem for me.
But then this morning the same thing happened. I got a small gush of fluid. It has now eased up. It is clear, watery, and does not smell like urine.
The two theories I was given was (from the midwife) increase in normal vaginal discharge. But, then why does it come and go like this? And (from the OB) urine pooled in the vagina while I was lying down and came out when I stood up - ie stress incontinence. But, then why do I otherwise have no trouble with urine, why was it not related to having a full bladder, why did it happen when I was sitting?
I'm hesitant to call again unless it comes back because it's probably normal and not a problem, and I know that that is what they will say. But, does anyone know what could be going on with me? It doesn't seem like the theories of my health care providers really fit. I suggested to my OB that it could be an infection, so he took a swab which came back negative. And a recent ultrasound has shown plenty of amniotic fluid around bubs.
Additional Info:
I have had two incidents of spotting, one at 29 weeks, one at 32 weeks. Both accompanied by BH. My doctor seems unconcerned because they were both within 48 hours of sex.
