less movement - close or bad news?

    Hi there,

My baby has been a constant mover for the last 11-12 weeks yet the last 2 days has been quite quiet. It is still moving and definately at least 10 a day but so much less than usual. Is this bad or does it mean I could start labour soon. I guess I'm concerned that something is wrong but it is there still because I have felt a few tiny movements.

    Hey Jordie

if you are concerned pop down to your drs to have them have a quick listen to your bub heart rate...this will put your mind at ease, and its always better to listen to your gut feeling

sometimes babies have quiet periods just like we do...and as long as you continue to feel on average one good movment per hour then that is within 'normal'

sometimes if your blood sugar is low then it can reduce your baby kicking around...have a glass of juice to get a quick baby response

for some women, they also notice at around 38 weeks baby can reduce the impact of movements, simply as they are running out of room and are generally head down in the pelvis

    hope this helps

    Hey Jodie

I know exactly how you feel! For the past 3 days my bub hasn't been moving much either (well not that i could feel anyway). I was beginning to panic but today I was sitting on the lounge chair watching my entire stomach move from side to side (bub rolling over) and kicking like crazy! But as extreme as these movements were, for me i could barely feel them. Ive been to the dr and bubs HB is fine, so i've put it down the fact that i'm beginning to get used to these feelings and not noticing them as much ??

Not too sure if this would apply to you also? You're much more advance than I though, I'm 29 weeks.

Anyway all the best. I'm sure everything is fine

Thanmks girls for the advice. I actually ended up going to the hospital just then to be monitored. The doc was so reassuring and said I had done the right thing. Ervything is fine! Guess it's better to be safe than sorry and wouldn't you know it - the baby is dancing in there now!
