    No pre-labour symptoms @ 40 weeks ...grrr

    Hi All,

Tomorrow I finally reach the 40 week mark. I have been drinking lots of RLT and taking EPO orally & internally. I am so keen to have this baby ... starting to get emotional, tired and have the usual pregnancy aches & pains!

Other then a few bouts BH I have not experianced any noticable pre-labour symptoms. All I know is that I am 2/5 engaged... but that really doesnt mean anything. I would love to hear from other people who have gone into labour or know of people who have gone into labour without experiancing alot of the common pre-labour symptoms. Is it possible to have pre-labour symptoms only days before the labour actually takes place? I really have no idea!

I am crossing my fingers that I will not have to be induced again! For health reasons I will be induced on the 21st June if I dont fall into labour naturally.

Look forward to hearing your stories / advice

Thanks girls... its encouraging to hear your stories! Wasnt sure if my lack of symptoms meant a natural labour was still far away. I would love to fall into labour on my EDD - but I realise this is very rare! My DH is praying that I have the baby on our DD's birthday - 1 day after my EDD. LOL Kel Im glad that emotionally Im on the right track of falling into labour soon! Roudysmum - best wishes with the rest of your pregnancy & labour!

Shannon - I just saw your post after I sent mine... sorry didnt mean to leave you out - Wow all your pre-labour symptoms were so different with each child. There really is no way of telling just how far labour is away is there? All the best with the remainder of your pregnancy & labour too!!

I didnt even have any braxton hicks with my first, let alone any pre-labour! One night I felt some period pain, got longer, stronger and closer together and bub born. I had nothing! Same with Elijah - had braxton hicks for the week we moved house (@6mths) but that was it, then just the period pain building up again!

I was induced so can't comment on my exp. but my gf had no prelabour or BH etc.. She had her OB appt, ob said she was not engaged, and booked an induction for a week later. She went into labour within 24 hours of leaving her OB appt.

Trust me if you had pre-labour for a while you would be unhappy too LOL! I think it is a blessing, and it was a sure sign for me it was labour without having to guess

    Sarah,

I am so glad you posted this, I was going to post something similar tonight. I am due on the 15th and have had nothing, nadda, no BH only slight period like paid, which goes away. I have had a big cry today, but thought it was more b/c I saw my OBS and he said to come back next week and then we'll talk about induction if need be - not what I was hoping to hear. I too thought, bugger no pre-labour signs must be a bad thing, but since reading others posts I feel a bit better, although my eyes hurt from crying! DH says to hang in there and I know that it won't be much longer to meet my baby but this has been the toughest part of my pg, the waiting for bubs to make an appearance.......

I had no prelabour pains at 40 weeks and after a visit to the GP i found out i was 3cm dilated. A few BH but i always had quite a few so not much change at 40weeks.

I went into labour a day before i was due to be induced. I guess Ella said "ok dont push me i'm coming out now"

    Hi Mummy Mummy

I have no idea about pre labour signs as this will be my first baby but i couldn't help but notice that you are located in Port Macquarie.. I am in Laurieton and was just wondering what your thoughts were on Port Base hospital??

i have only been for my first visit.. but will again be going on thursday next week for second visit.. (this time with the MW).. do you find all the mw to be nice?

    Hi There Sirenz,

Its great to meet someone who lives locally.

We moved from Sydney at the end of last year and have found Port Base Hospital great. With my DD we went privately through Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick and thought the standed there was very high, to be honest I didnt think I would find anywhere so good.

As you may know there is not alot of choice in our area (you do not have the option of private ob), but perhaps it is for the best. I have found everyone at Port Macquarie's antenatal clinic to be very supportive, I really can not fault them on anything. The receptionist even knows me by my first name. The midwives I have seen are very good. The antenatal clinic itself is always clean and appointments are always on time (I have waited 15 max to see a doctor). I do recommend going to the antenatel classes - this is where they will give you a tour of the birthing rooms & maternity ward.

I wish you all the very best with the rest of your pregnancy, birth & beyond,
    Sarah
