We moved from Sydney at the end of last year and have found Port Base Hospital great. With my DD we went privately through Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick and thought the standed there was very high, to be honest I didnt think I would find anywhere so good.
As you may know there is not alot of choice in our area (you do not have the option of private ob), but perhaps it is for the best. I have found everyone at Port Macquarie's antenatal clinic to be very supportive, I really can not fault them on anything. The receptionist even knows me by my first name. The midwives I have seen are very good. The antenatal clinic itself is always clean and appointments are always on time (I have waited 15 max to see a doctor). I do recommend going to the antenatel classes - this is where they will give you a tour of the birthing rooms & maternity ward.
I wish you all the very best with the rest of your pregnancy, birth & beyond,
Sarah
