Ok so apparently I'm having a baby the size of Danny Devito ??

Well, my story hasn't ended yet, but I know how you feel!

My Ob commented at 30 weeks how big bub was looking, then went on holidays. While she was away, I saw 2 other ladies from her office and they both commented on bub's size also. In the end I went for a scan at 36w2d which showed bub weighed 3.6kg, but this is +/- 15%. And the amount of people who have asked if it is twins in unbelievable!! I laughed it off at the beginning, but do people not realise it can be taken as a hurtful comment??

You do start to get paranoid dont you? I especially hated it when strangers would tell me how HUGE I was. Let alone when all the different midwives used to comment as well. "Oh its a good size" "you must be very uncomfortable lugging that around"
Well as a very proud mother to four boys, three of whom were over nine pounds I say who cares??? They all arrived happy healthy and to look at them now you would never have known they were such monsters born as im sure they have hollow legs!
Scout was 9lb9oz and 59cms. He was a baby giraffe!
I am expecting this one to be another biggun and I couldnt care a less.

it could also be how your acrrying some people carry infront others carry posterior so look like they are having minni babies but they ended up being 10 pounders
i looked like i was having twins with DD and only one 3.435kg baby came out

Have they decided it is a giant from your fundus height? Have they sent you for a scan?
Both are fairly inaccurate so I wouldn't worry too much. I was told that DS1 would be over 10 lb and he was only 6lb 15oz when he was born at 38weeks. Danny Devito is pretty small anyway.
Plenty of women have 'huge' babies without any trouble, and plenty of times the doctors are wrong about the size anyway. Try to relax, worrying won't change anything.

I was having an 11 pounder.. Apparently!

I was measuring big from about 30 weeks which resulted in extra appointments, extra ultrasounds, the talk of a induction, a CS.. It went on and on!

Anyway, long story short.. DS came on his own at 39+2 weighing just over 9 pound! Perfect, straight forward labour. Big yes, but not the 11 pound I was apparently expecting according to midwives.

Me: Yep, I've had plenty of scans, I'm sure the Dr would of picked it up by now

Lol when I read the thread heading I wondered...adult Danny DeVito or baby?

One Dr I saw when PG with my DD guess-timeated 9lb..she was 8 1/2 roughly, not quite that big..
with my DS1 I went in for a scan the day before I delivered & I remember the guy saying "oooh, this one's just goona sliiiide out hahahah" really sarcastically...I knew I was big so that scared me...he was 9lb13 & far & away the easiest birth of the lot. Big doesn't have to be scary

And yeah I am sick of the twins comments, especially from MIL, I am actually smaller I reckon this time but do you think anyon'es listening? nope, I think they just like making a big deal out of your belly

Don't be scared, size has very little (if anything) to do with the kind of birth you'll have. Both of mine have been on the bigger end of the scale, DD was the smaller of the two and it took me 2 hours to push her out. DS was almost 9lb and he was out in 5 mins flat. Piece of cake.

I had my ob making comments on size from about 30ish weeks with DS, he hasn't said anything this time so I'm thinking it might be a smaller baby this time. Not that it matters!

OMG I was always getting asked if I was having twins, my answer became... I'm sure I'd be a LOT bigger than this if I was! I was big, but NOT THAT BIG! I did have muscle separation which made it look quite big - got sent for scan and everything... fluid - high levels and they said 8 pound baby at 36 wks.. he was born at 39 wks 4 days and weighed 8 pound 4... so NO way was he already 8 pounds at 36 wks. One of the ladies here on BB said to me, it's not the weight anyway, it's the head size that counts and having said that, it smooshed and squishes to get out so it's not THAT big either... so when they measure and say 35cm at birth, it's not that coming out. Try not to worry, it's all going to be great!
