Question Only 8 more weeks - but can it be 8 weeks of this???

    Hey girls...

I know BH are normal. I also know that you 'feel' them more during subsequent pregnancies... But This is rediculous...

I'm getting contractions EVERYDAY *been getting contractions since 20wks they just becoming more painful/regular). the last couple of days I have been getting them they will be regular for a bit then when i start to get worried, STOP! all during the day it's driving me insane. My back is killing 99% of the time. I have a huge headache...

I spose i should be calling the midwifes, but i can hear this snotty cow on the end of the phone (sorry bad experiance of last time i called she made me feel like i didn't know what i was talking about or feeling) saying that there not regular all the time and bubby is still moving then i am fine...

This is right isn't it? what advice would you give someone that complains about that... it's not labour is it? and is there a magical cure to stop BH?

    I hope this makes sence...

Dunno how easy it is with the kidlets, but apparently a warm bath can slow down early labour, so maybe a warm bath can help slow down BHs? That being said, i never did as trying to get out of the bath was fairly eventful (funny though) in the last few weeks PMSL!

I would give them a call anyway... cross fingers you get someone a little more sympathetic this time... maybe the mids would have some ideas on how to slow them?

Do they come on when you do anything in particulare? For instance certain movements.... I don't really have any idea on how to slow them, the only thing I can think of is if you are moving around when they start, then rest... if they start when you are resting then move! not very helpful sorry

But what I really think is that you shouldn't let one snotty midwife put you off calling. If you have a genuine concern (and you do) then you have every right to call or go in & get advice.
It doesn't have to be all about 'is bub ok' it can also be 'help me cope with this!' - kwim?

(and after all that, just think that your body is doing an awesome job preparing for birth, you may not appreciate it now but maybe in a few weeks time...)

    Good luck

Cass - I would ring them for peace of mind honey.
I've had the snotty ones too but if you explain that it is really worrying you and causing you major anxiety, they usually change their tune and ask you to come in to get checked.
I was really worried about ringing and going in too but in the end I really wasn't coping with the anxiety it was all causing and rang. When I went in they hooked me up to the monitor and I got to hear the heartbeat for a few hours - which is always a beautiful thing. I also recieved an internal to check my cervix - long and closed, massive relief. They also did a swab for any infections - came back clear, woot. And they did the fetal fibronectin (fFN) test - also clear, woot!
They sent me home with instructions to rest as much as possible and take panadeine if the contractions are hurting, panadol if they arn't that severe... They also said to make sure I was staying well hydrated and pooing regularly (lovely isn't it?) as they can cause early contractions...
