    Question Pre - Labour?

Ok so DD was induced and it took 4 days for the induction to work and then onto synto straight away - so I have never just "gone" into labour - and she was 42 weeks and I didnt get any form of Pre-labour either...

So this bub feels different! I know bubs is head down and engaged - not sure how engaged as my OB didnt write it down - but for the last few weeks on a daily basis I get this feeling like bubs head is WAY down and I feel as though any minute there is going to be a pop and something will trickle out - there is SO much downwards preasure! I really get worried that my waters may break! It will happen for an hr or so and then go away for a bit and happen again then go for the rest of the day.

Today at work I had it again and I had to stop and lean over a cabinet as the pain was intense and it was all up my back and the preasure was huge!

I get dull period type pains in my lower tummy some times too - but they dont last long and they go.

I never got BH with Bella either (well that I could feel!) but know I get them alot of and on during the day and night...

So a long winded question...is this just some pre labour?? How long can pre labour last for??

    TIA
    Kate

It does sound like pre-labour, but it could last for weeks. The pressure feeling does sound like bub has gotton comfy nice and low down, hopefully this will mean you can avoid a drawn out induction this time As you are not quite full term if the pain seems to become regular, or doesn't stop when you rest, then it is important to speak to your midwife for a checkup but in the absence of that it could be your body warming up for the main event. Are you planning on stopping work soon? This could also be your body telling you to slow down a little.

Gosh, i rememeber that. Mine started about 36 weeks with DD and were still going when i was induced @ 38+4. Could it be bub engaging some more? I would think it would be pre labour though, which really... how long is peice of string... it differs with everyone for how long it lasts.

Traveller - I was checked the the other week and I had some spotting and cervix is closed so thats ok - but I would deffinatly seek help if they became regular. Heres fingers crossed to no induction and c-sect and my VBAC this birth!

MM - yes how long is a piece or string!!

Just a stab in the dark here, but did the pressure and pain start after your cervix was examined? It could just be a little irritated from being prodded, depending on how gentle your midwife was.

Traveller - no it was happening before hand. I think its just bub getting lower down and I have never had that feeling with DD.

Cool, does sound very much like pre labour then. Here's hoping you will get a lovely VBAC in a few weeks
