Ok so DD was induced and it took 4 days for the induction to work and then onto synto straight away - so I have never just "gone" into labour - and she was 42 weeks and I didnt get any form of Pre-labour either...
So this bub feels different! I know bubs is head down and engaged - not sure how engaged as my OB didnt write it down - but for the last few weeks on a daily basis I get this feeling like bubs head is WAY down and I feel as though any minute there is going to be a pop and something will trickle out - there is SO much downwards preasure! I really get worried that my waters may break! It will happen for an hr or so and then go away for a bit and happen again then go for the rest of the day.
Today at work I had it again and I had to stop and lean over a cabinet as the pain was intense and it was all up my back and the preasure was huge!
I get dull period type pains in my lower tummy some times too - but they dont last long and they go.
I never got BH with Bella either (well that I could feel!) but know I get them alot of and on during the day and night...
So a long winded question...is this just some pre labour?? How long can pre labour last for??
It does sound like pre-labour, but it could last for weeks. The pressure feeling does sound like bub has gotton comfy nice and low down, hopefully this will mean you can avoid a drawn out induction this time As you are not quite full term if the pain seems to become regular, or doesn't stop when you rest, then it is important to speak to your midwife for a checkup but in the absence of that it could be your body warming up for the main event. Are you planning on stopping work soon? This could also be your body telling you to slow down a little.
Gosh, i rememeber that. Mine started about 36 weeks with DD and were still going when i was induced @ 38+4. Could it be bub engaging some more? I would think it would be pre labour though, which really... how long is peice of string... it differs with everyone for how long it lasts.
Thanks ladies! Gosh this whole second pregnancy thing is so different!
Traveller - I was checked the the other week and I had some spotting and cervix is closed so thats ok - but I would deffinatly seek help if they became regular. Heres fingers crossed to no induction and c-sect and my VBAC this birth!
Just a stab in the dark here, but did the pressure and pain start after your cervix was examined? It could just be a little irritated from being prodded, depending on how gentle your midwife was.
Your body is getting ready!
I was induced with DS too and didn't have much of anything happen prior to that, but it was different this time. All sorts of pressure down low, pre labour etc. I still went well past my due date, but actually kicked off myself. Hope it happens for you too
I get the pressure too, I just put it down to all the extra blood flow, sometimes it feels like my vagina is going to drop right off.
I put it down to the extra blood cos my bub is still breech and isn't engaged at all (obviously!) I'm getting period pain on and off too, and what feels like a small contraction (well the same feeling I had with my contractions last time) so I guess we're just warming up for the big event!!!
Here's hoping you go early or on time this time around, and here's hoping I go at least a day over.. LOL
Sorry to hi-jack.....My question is about the same topic .
I feel like i do the day before AF would visit, and have had the low dull backache for a few hours now....Although I've been what I consider to be 'nesting' heaps more lately, I've had a sudden urge of energy for the last 4-5 days.....Is this sounding like pre-labour to anyone out there?
Oh yup I agree with Traveller. Sounds like some pre-labour Things are starting to loosen up more now too with the relaxin hormone so it can get ouchy in spots you didn't know you had! it's all a good sign, but it sounds good to me
