Hi all,
Ive just recently noticed that i have developed a nightly routine... Which consists of waking up at 1 and then 3am, at 3am im absolutly starving!!! then again at 6am....it takes me a while to go back to sleep and by 6am im acheing in the hips and have to get up anyway.... Does anyone have any suggestions on what gets them through a night ?
Am i the only one having 3am snacks??? lol im so tired!
Yolly you are not alone. I wake up around those times too and yes usually starving later in the wee hours. I usually can't be bothered to get up and eat though.
When I am trying to get to sleep I have itchings all over and then later on in the night I am also having aching hips. Today I have a stitch like pain down my right side of my belly as well. I am thinking it is referred pain from a pinched nerve in my lower back.
I'm doing the same. I just put it down to my internal clock getting used to getting up for night feedings. I actually don't mind it. At least I'll be relatively used to it when the bub comes.
yep, I've been waking up every two hours or so for the last four weeks and I can't honestly remember what it's like to sleep through! This was a bit of a problem when I was still working but now I'm on maternity leave I just make up for it during the day.
Funnily enough, my couch is more comfortable than bed (easier on the hips). You could also try putting a pillow underneath you and/or between your legs. I know you can buy special pregnancy body pillows but I've been a bit slack as I figure I've only got a few weeks to go.
I too am looking on it as preparation for night-time feeds and am actually quite glad that it's happening because I'm not so scared of the dreaded sleep deprivation now.
I wake up a few times a night and more especially at 2am, when i flick on the telly and watch Turkish satellite tv. The nightly news are on and usually watch it for an hour and fall back to sleep by 3am. I used to get hungry too and usually had a bowl of cornflakes or 2 pieces of fruit to keep the tummy growls at bay. I agree, i think its got to do with getting used to the nightly feeds that will eventuate when bubs arrives.
If you're hungry eat, as bubs will get all the good nutrients and leave you the leftovers, so your body is not getting all the energy it requires.
Good luck!
yep i am up multiple times a night lol usually because i am busting to pee!!! ususally so bad that i am bent over hobbling to the bathroom worried about not making it in time haha... i find i am really hungry around 6 so i eat and go back to bed then lol
You sound just like me! I'm up 1 or 2 times per night - sometimes for a quick wee and other times for more than an hour. I get hungry too and eat, which means I have reflux which means I have to drink waterto take away the yucky mylanta taste which then means I have to go to the loo! By then I'm fully awake and ready to party! I know it's meant to prepare you for feeds etc. but I'm still at work and don't want to wake up all the time! Oh well - joys of pregnancy and motherhood!
Same! What is it about 3am specifically I wonder? That seems to be my 'magic hour' too. Either I have to stay up until then or I wake up at 3am starving as well. Nutrition be damned, I'm eating anything I can find in the fridge! The 'training for night feeds' reason makes total sense to me. Mostly though, its from being ravenous and having to pee. I'll unpack the dishwasher and see what else I can clean without making too much noise.
I only wish there were more informercials on at that hour. Though those TV Evangelical shows are good entertainment sometimes :P
Thanks guys, at least i know im not alone.... ive started having my afternoon naps again, but still feeling tired guess its a good thing if it prepares me for bub.
I wonder what it is about 3am?? I wake up at 3am every morning. It's driving me and DH nuts!!
I never had any problems sleeping during my last prg. Luckily I only work 2 days a week so it's not making me too tired but I can't stand it when I can't get back to sleep after I get up to pee.
I don't get hungry though so I guess that's a bonus! I do get aching hips though.
I look at it the same way - at least we'll be used to the broken sleep when bub arrrives!
I've found that the times I wake up are actually times that my body is telling me I need to go to the toilet, otherwise the next time I wake up I'm in intense pain from the pressure of needing to go.
Re the hips, I have now had to start putting a pillow between my legs, and that reduces the pain a little. It hink it's because there is too much pressure on the side your lyeing on otherwise.
Re the waking at 3am - feeds are usually around 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm, 11pm, 3am, 7am, ......... so I'd say it's just that - getting used to the timest o feed.
I generally wake every time I roll over too, as my hips are so tender, and I have to consciously reposition myself.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding that I can almost set the clock by Gumdrop's waking movements. Generally they are around the times that I have listed above. 6-7am, 10-11am, 2-3pm, ...... etc.
I find it absolutely amazing.
I just hope that he/she keeps this routine up when they're born. It will make my life so much easier.
I often wake up hungry but I just think it's so Wrong to get out of bed to eat! LOL so I normally lie there with my tummy growling...Found it's better if I have a good low-GI snack after dinner, a couple of hours before bed (cereal and fruit, yoghurt and fruit, etc). Seems to top me up enough to get thru the night.
The other thing I do is keep a really big glass of water next to the bed, sometimes a drink is enough to fool the tummy! On really bad nights I just get up and read, at least that way I've done something with the time...
