Question Friend fell down stairs... 3rd trimester

    Hi girls

My friend fell down her 3 stairs at her house 2 nights ago and fell straight onto her tummy. She tripped on a toy as she couldnt see it cos her tummy is so big. She's a very heavy person and her arms and hands didnt go out in front like they normally do! she said she doesnt know what happened but they didnt do what they should have done to break her fall. she fell straight on her tummy and she is 32 weeks pregnant. Her DH took her to hospital straight away and she spent over night in hospital and tests were done, bloods, scans everything and they couldnt find anything out of the normal but the docs did say that they cant promise that the bub wasn't hurt in any way. (cover themselves too).

Just wondering if anyone here knows anyone that this has happened too and was their baby ok? At least if there is someone here that has a story about it that can put my friends mind at ease, even for a bit? I'm sure her baby will be fine and she is too but of course, we are worried.

She feels ok but yesterday she was very sore and bruised on her tummy (as you would be even if not pregnant). She's real worried but trying not to worry as whats done is done. She is due to have a c/s (planned months ago) in 6 weeks.
she hasnt had any bleeding which i guess is a good thing?

I'm so worried about her Feel so bad for her....

I've never fell on my tummy either while pregnant, but i have to agree with Caro, i would be asking for weekly appointments until the birth.

I hope your friend and her baby are both ok Ren.

My DD's godmother fell on her tummy when heavily pg with her DS who is 21 so i am going back a long time but it is a story she tells often. She fell down a whole flight of stairs. She was taken to hosp and they couldnt find a HB for the bub. They were about to induce her when a student midwife used one of the old fashioned horns and found the HB, she said she was still very worried though it was up there with one of the best moments of her life. She went into labor naturally within the next week and had a H&H boy!! i'm sure your friend will be fine too. Babies have lots of fluid remember to cushion them. i am sending you both a big though and hope you are both feeling a little better.

    Hi!
My Mum fell falt on her tummy when she was 36 weeks with my sister. Of course Dad rushed her straight to the hospital, and she was told the same thing. Everything is fine but cant guarantee etc. Well my sister was fine!!! She was born 1 week overdue, and weighed 7.5 pounds. She is now 18 too, so there was definately no injuries she sustained during the fall. Im sure if she has been checked out, and as long as she is still feeling movements, she should be fine. Our tummies are pretty strong things!!!
    Hope this helps!

    oh goodness...

When I was about 34 weeks with my twins I fell up our back steps.I landed on my side but still hit my stomach.I never went to the docs as I did'nt feel it was too bad a fall.I cried in hysterics as it scared the S**t out of me.We were all fine and I had the girls at 36wks and 4 days.

    How is she going?????

I hope your friend is okay. Does she still feel the baby moving? My friend also fell while she was pregnant in her third trimester. She actually tripped on the stairs and probably fell 5 -7 steps. It was really bad because it hit her belly twice. A few hours later, there was huge bruises all over so we suggested her to get a look from the doctor. Luckily, her baby was sound and safe as the bub's protected by lots of fluid and also the fat from our bellies, just like an extra pillow in between. Her daughter is now 3 years old! I am sure your friend is okay, but it's better to get it check out when in doubt!

hi there, your poor friend. she must have been so worried. i think if she is still feeling movements thats a good thing.

i have a story that might reassure her a little bit even though it wasnt a fall. i was about 38 weeks' pregnant due to be induced in 4 days due to medical reasons and had a car accident (in my brand new car) when i ran up the back of another car at high speed. i was driving and my stomach hit the steering wheel (but not very hard mind you, ie didnt have any discomfort or bruising). the airbag didnt go off so the impact cant have been too serious although my car was in the smash repairers for 6 weeks. anyway, to cut a long story short, went straight to hospital for monitoring. everything was fine with baby although his heartbeat was a bit erratic (probably because i was so upset). they sent me home after a few hours and he was born very healthy 4 days later.

im sure everything will be fine with your friend's baby but it must have been such a worry for her. if she is at all concerned, she should contact her ob again and best to keep an eye on baby's movements to make sure she is getting the 10 plus kicks a day.

    best wishes to your friend.

She said if anything changes she will go straight to doc, no hesitations.
