People make all sorts of thoughtless comments. Someone said a similar thing to me, 'wow you're small! I hope nothing's wrong!'

So while I knew in my head that things were okay, I also was uneasy.

Here are some reasons why people carry small. I'm sure people will be along to add more.

    - you're tall (more space for baby to fit without pushing outwards)
    - you or your partner are small (so the baby might just be small like it's parents!)
    - you're carrying bub more against your spine
    - it's your first baby (stomach muscles hold everything in very efficiently)
    - you were very slim/underweight to start with

Anyway - the bub where people commented on my size - ended up being 9.4lb! That's not small really. I just was slim, and it was my first baby.
I know it's easy to worry, but remember that if your bub was too far behind dates (mine would be behind, then have a growth spurt where I felt extra tired and then would measure ahead of dates), then your ob would have said something. Take comfort in the thought that pregnant women everywhere get these silly comments.

    Thanks Nelle!
It is my first bub so I really dont know how big / small I should be.
My midewife siad that bubs will grow the most in the last month so I guess I have pleanty of time in that regard.
I dont think im that small - but again being my first have no bench marks! I feel like stalking any preg woman and asking how many weeks she is and comparing - but that would do my head in as well I think!
Thanls for your advice has made me feel better!

Aw Kate - everyone, and I mean everyone - gets at least one comment when they're pregnant that they are either too small or too big for how far along they are.

Honestly, people just can't keep their mouths shut and unfortunately this commentary on your parenting continues until your children are grown

If your OB is happy then there is nothing to worry about. Trust me hun, if there was any concern about your baby's size whatsoever your OB would be the first one, all over it. Don't worry, just enjoy this wonderful time in your life (and practice selective hearing! )

Others peoples comments can be just plain rude. I am sure everything is just fine. I have has all the way through this pregnancy comments about being so small  what can you do?
I actually had someone say to me last thursday "OMG you are HUGE!" i was like- i beg your pardon? - and she went "imagine how big you're going to be at the end if your're this HUGE now!"
WTF? obvioulsy this girl has neer been pregnant herself but tbh it hurt more that she said i was huge rather than all the small comments i have been getting.
Just try to ignore it or say something witty back (if your unlike me and can never think of anything)

I dont think im that small
Haha, I was like that too, and I always remember to ask people how they feel now - because I felt HUGE, I was uncomfy, I felt fat, ugly (you know, that's the bad days of pregnancy for you :P), and people were saying 'oh you're tiny, wish I'd had a neat comfortable package like that'.

Comments like that just invalidate how a pregnant person is feeling, I hated it, because they said it like it was praise and I should graciously accept their comment like 'oh yes, thankyou, yes I am small, I did it deliberately, and of course it's comfortable, what sane 30 week pregnant chick wouldn't be comfortable?'
    Dorks.

Anyway, I'll stop having flashbacks :P and remind you again, DON'T let comments worry you if you weren't worried before and your carers aren't worried.

This is my third and I feel huge - but I have had good size bubbas too - people like to tell me I look big too - i dunno what is worse - too big or too small ...

This is your first so you probably have lovely tummy muscles still pulling everything in (jealous ) - good support for you and bubba - don't stress and rely on your carers.

    HI
Don't listen to what people say, people can be soooooo rude. Baby is kicking and your Ob is happy. Don't worry.
