My OB tested my urine on my first visit to the hospital but never after that unless they found a reason to. My doctor (also was doing shared care) started testing mine once they found I had high blood pressure. Now the hospital has brought in these little sticks that you use to test yourself. I hate them though because you have to determine whether you have protein and/or glucose in your urine by which shade of green or blue it turns. Sometimes it's really hard to distinguish. Ever since I've started using them I've had a 'trace' of protein in my urine but I never did when my doctor tested it. Maybe that's just timing or maybe the sticks are full of crap. I don't know.
