Very Early loss of plug? (TMI Post).

Hi girls. I was just getting excited about finally reaching the third tri.

Sorry for the TMI, but, over the last day or so I have had some thick jelly like discharge (like snot but clear). I have had a few BH over the last week or so, but no other cramping...

Is this my plug? should I be worried? I have placed a call to my OBs office, but am waiting to hear back from him. but in the interim... a bit anxious about it...

    TIA for your help.

Ruf - could it be thrush??? I have a thick discharge lately too - either clear or white and believe it is thrush - though its not like I used to have it, ie before pregnancy as I am not itchy. I have to take a swab when I go to have my GD test on Monday and they will test to give an answer for sure.
Fingers crossed everything is ok for you

Ruf- I'd reckon it's just your CM increasing.

If it were to be thrush you'd probably find it to be sort of yellow in colour, might have a slight smell too.

I got really string jelly like globs when i got to about thirty weeks, so i wouldn't be panicking.

Although (if you aren't already) wear a liner, JIC that way when you get hold of your OB you can take it in and show him/her.

Yeah I'd definately say it's just increased cm too. Can gross you out a bit sometimes but from memory I could tell when I lost my plug coz it was different again (apart from having some blood). Good to check with your ob if you're worried at all though, it can't hurt well maybe just your wallet haha

Ruf- well it could be. I actually lost mine last week whilst I was already a patient in hospital. And I am only 24weeks tomorrow, so was a little worried. Mine was a like that as well, but the blob was about the size of a twenty cent piece. Luckly I could actually show them right there and then. I too had lots of BH, and they were very painful- but that pain also had alot to do with the cyst i was told. The doctors and midwives told me not to worry to much as Ive had no contractions or water breaking. There apparently is no risk of infection until your waters break. So i am keeping mt legs and fingers crossed that bubs don't come to early.

    Hi Ruf
Withoug being able to see it I can not say for sure what it is. There is a chance that it is your plug. However there is no need to worry. As Rach said there is no chance of infection unless your waters have broken and loosing your plug does not mean that you will go into labour early. Also the plug can reform if it is lost early in pregnancy.

Thanks all so much for the info. I am pleased to say that it seems to have stopped for now, and there has been no wet leaking either. *knock on wood*
Alan, it is reassuring to know that the plug can reform, if that is what it was.... And I am going to hunt down my OB today and hopefully get a quick checkup JIC...
Anyway, for me, it is a big reminder that I am in the third tri now, and I need to slow down, and stop thinking I am invincible, and try to take things easy from here on it.

Ruf, right thru the last trimester, it's common to loose bits of what U think is ur plug, and may well be, but it's snot like and I lost a lot of it off and on right thru. I never worried as I knew whatever I lost would replace itself. The only time to really panic is if u loose it with heavy cramping or u think ur waters have broken. The plug generally looks more solid and like a chunk of solidified fat/jelly. White in colour and maybe some blood. A bit of a show is more runny snotty like. It is also common to loose a lot of CM during the third tri. I often had heaps and heaps of cm run out. HEAPS AND HEAPS. Usually it was when I did a poop (sorry tmi)or after sex (like 6hrs or more).
Get it checked out hon, but try not to panic. It's all very common and normal honey. As I said, only panic if u start cramping or u think ur waters have broken. Goodluck hon, and I am so excited for you and happy for u! *hugs*

Thanks Kerrie. Good to hear from you.
I am hoping it is ok, but not being able to get in touch with my OB is not comforting... I am paying him a $$$$...
And I just watched my Sis give birth 7 weeks early, and I am now fearful that I will go early too... Her first sign was plug loss... I just want to make it to at least 34 weeks... So feet up and chill out for me!!!
