    Vomiting Bug (I think!) - worried :-(

    Hi Everyone

Was just wondering whether anyone has had a vomiting bug during the last trimester of their pregnancy. I started vomiting about 3am yesterday morning and kept going throughout the day yesterday. I didn't eat yesterday. I stopped after lunch and haven't been sick since but I was so worried about Bub. I didn't have diarrohea.

Today I am still a little weak but have now eaten.

Has anyone else had a bug during their pregnancy?

    Bindy xx

Yes! I had severe gastro and had it flying out of both ends Nasty stuff!

You need to be careful you don't dehydrate, especially in this warm weather. Luckily now you are holding down food so make sure you sip lots of water also or you can drink some gatorade or other isotonic drink that replaces essential minerals that you may have lost. Avoid tea or coffee as they are a diuretic.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

if you are worried, do call your care provider, like Sam i had gostro during my last tri, i couldnt stop throwing up, they ended up admitting me overnight for some maxalon and saline. But it sounds like you're doign ok now... just rest, take it easy hope you keep getting better!

I had the same treatment as katnap...but I only vomited twice in the space of about 30 minutes and had diarrheoa (sp?)...my midwife met me at the hospital and I was on a saline drip and had maxalon and buscopan and was fine after that.

Phone your care provider...it's a horrid feeling being that sick!

I had a vomitting bug 6 times during my pg with Tom (DS2). Most times it lasted 24 hours. The last time it lasted for 4 days and I ended up in hossy on drip. As long as you are not dehydrated there is no need to worry. If you are not urinating or otherwise feel dehydrated, see a doctor straight away, or call your mw/ob who will probably recommend hossy. Otherwise don't worry. Not once was my ob concerned about my lack of food intake, it was only the fluids that worried them.

    Hi Bindy
Don't worry too much about eating but it is important that you keep drinking. If our vomiting has stopped and you can keep your fluids down then everything is going to be ok. If you are still vomiting and cant keep fluids down then you need to get checked out.

Thanks girls and Alan I had stopped vomiting yesterday but I'm not doing it today, just a little weak. Had Ob appointment this afternoon and all is well with Bub he mentioned that Bub wouldn't have been affected if I was taking in fluids which I was (well trying to take in as much as I could).

It means heaps to me that you all replied and shared your experiences with these terrible bugs! Made me feel at ease.

    Thanks again, Bindy xxoo
