Unhappy What was ur experience with pre eclamsia in the last weeks of ur pregnancy

Just after some ideas, on if u had pre eclampsia in ur final weeks of pregnancy, what were ur symptoms and what happened

Last Thursday at my 39week 2 day dr clinic, my bp was 150/80 and i had small protien in my urine, we put the high bp down to the fact i was excited about getting a stretch and sweep and we did do the bp again after, it was a bit lower.
I had a blood test done, and as far as im aware, it was fine, i never got the call to say otherwise.

So Monday i woke with a headache, took panadol and it went away.
I am 40 weeks today and i woke with a headache around 5am, was mild, slept through it, took panadol at 8.30 am as it was still lingering.

Had a few sharp stabbing pains on my left side above my ear, no throbbing headache, just a mild lingering, took more panadol at 1.00pm and had a nap.

I feel ok now, just weird, i am very tired, and besides the stabbing pain, that comes and goes, i have no swelling or anything that suggests pre eclampsia.

I havent called the midwifes yet as i was waiting it out to see how i feel, and if it got worse i will call.
I would have called earlier, but my hubby is at work, and i dont drive and i have the 5 kids at home, so i kinda feel like i dont want to call him out of work if its not needed, especially seeing though he is casual and will need time off when the baby is born.

so anyway, if u could give me some of ur experiences that would be great.

Both times for me the head ache and a weird feeling was what gave me the clue something was wrong. Both times my BP was over 180.
In your heart are you worried, do you feel like there's something wrong? I'd ring the maternity ward.

Im my heart i know i should get it checked out, i dont quite think something is wrong, baby is moving, but i do feel weird, its so hard to explain. This stabbing pain has increased, ive had it before, when not pregnant, but its the timimg of it.

For me I hated it I had PE with my first pregnancy and was plagued with dizzy spells, nausea, a distant feeling inside, and very very swollen..
Also head aches when my Bp peaked and followed by tiny flickering lights the midwives called mini ufo's
I agree if you have any of the above effects or are worried I would go in,
PE isn't something you can mess with it can be very bad if it's not monitored properly..
Other than that rest up, lay down put ur feet elevated above your body Itms and drink plenty of water..
But do go get checked out pls

I blew up like a balloon was very obvious what was going on.

Lots of headaches, more tired than the previous weeks, my BP was through the roof, same with the protein in the wee, I got the little shooting star lights in my eyes.

Take it easy, put your feet up and get checked out

    Thanks hun.
The best way i can describe it now, is that my head feels tight, but not painful, and when i do have any pain its on the left side.
My baby sitter isnt free till 8pm, so im going to see how it is then, and call the midwifes, i know though they will tell me to come in, and hubby doesnt get home till 10.30.

I didn't feel much at all until I was in a very bad way. My ob said that I needed to pay attention to headaches that didn't go away with panadol, stabbing pains below my ribs and visual disturbances... but I didn't have any of those things until my bp was through the roof.
This time I had high bp and kidney function was borderline dodgy but again I felt OK. Not even any fluid retention.

You don't always have obvious signs, but like Kim said, I did just feel a little weird. So if you feel strange then at least go get your bp and urine checked. It is better to be safe than sorry.

The PE was worse in my first pregnancy and I was induced a few weeks early after spending a week in hospital on strict bed rest, they only let me out for Christmas Day with clear instructions to sit on my bum with my feet up and do nothing for 2 hours then go back.

With DD she was happy for me to bed at home and rest, did a stretch and sweep, gave me 4 days to go naturally. Ended up with another induction.

    Thanks for the replies
    I'm on my ph
I called Hubby out of work so he is on way home, and I called the midwifes, she thinks I'm dehydrated and told me to eat drink and rest.
Also said she will look at my chart and if she thinks I need to come in she will call me and if it gets worse to call her
also said she doubts Pre eclampsia cause it's not my first baby and I have the same partner for all my children

I would ring them again and let them know you have a headache that won't pass and also not feeling quite right, you have to listen to your body babe( not that you don't know lol)
Pls just give them a call and make sure, even if it's nothing

My mum only had PE in her 3rd pregnancy. I had it with my 1st and 3rd, not the 2nd. It doesn't always follow the rules.

I hope for your sake it is nothing, but don't just take the midwife's opinion over the phone if you think it is serious.
