My first labour was under two hours from first contraction to holding my baby, I thought when it started that maybe it was a false alarm, luckily I had my mother there and my partner making me go to the birth centre. I thought my first quick labour was a fluke until my second baby, who was born 5omin after first contraction, needless to say alot of the same running around to get in the car and go, it took all my might not to have her in the car. THe third baby (10 weeks ago) we decided a home birth, no more horrible car trips I wanted to stay in. The midwife lived an hour and a half away, so the plan of attack was for me to lay down and stop gravity a little. The break between babies was 6 years and I was told (by varying people)that all births are different, it's been 6 years, it might be longer this time etc etc. So i thought yeah maybe it will be longer. One contraction I knew this was it, within 15 minutes i was in transition but stayed laying down for as long as I could, hubby filled up the pool, which slowed it down a little, but all i wanted to do was push... PUSH, so again I was holding on but this time for the midwife to come to me... she arrived I was so relieved and had bubba 15 minutes after she arrived. So my longest labour thus far 2 hours! It was glorious being at home and having a 'slower' labour. So basically when I go into labour it's not much time for anything but the essentials.
