Spoke to my midwife two days ago and she said swelling can take up to 6 weeks to go down..... it just varies from person to person.... hopefully I'm one of the early birds then
My swelling went as soon as I got home from the hospital. I lost 9kg in one night - I kid you not - I kept getting on the scales and saying to DP, "ANOTHER kilo gone." It was like magic.
One thing the hospital told me was to keep my feet elevated but I didn't actually get chance to do that in the hospital but I did when I got home.
Don't be freaked out if your swelling gets worse just after you've had your bub! After DS1 my legs became tree trunks, it was awful! Fortunately it went down fairly quickly
I drank heaps more water when pg with DS2 and didn't get much swelling thankfully. I'll have to remember to drink heaps this time around.
ETA - Oh yeah, like Fiona said - the kilos coming off afterwards rocks! I would have a day where I couldn't stop peeing all day and when I'd weigh myself another kilo had come off
Wow!! Can't wait to see those scales coming down hehehe
Mum said to me recently that its just wonderful when you wake up the next day after having baby and feel so much lighter and easy to get around!!
I can't wait to wear my rings again too Sara!! I have mine safely around my necklace!
But it's the kankles that have been the worst for me.... just can't wait to get my ankles back and be able to wear any shoes again not just thongs!
