He didn't cope with mainstream preschool (5years old) & I sought out an independent school that was respectful of the differences in children's personalities & had a gentle ethos. He thrived & didn't have a single day where he was unwilling to attend - he has remained that way and is now 9yo.

We have looked into private schools but to be honest, only one of us is working at the moment and we just cannot afford the fees for this. It is so sad because she seemed to be playing so nicely with the other kids today at playgroup which is really strange for her but she just cannot be without me. Even at playgroup, I have to be near her or she won't play.

I suffer with anxiety and I sometimes wonder if this hasn't rubbed off on her. Another thing for mommy guilt! I hope she can grow out of it. I hope I can come up with a solution.

Ang - I am currently SOR but we are moving to Ellenbrook in 8 weeks. So there is another reason I pulled her out as she would just have gotten used to the school and then out she goes. The public school that side doesn't have a place for her and she is on the waiting list. I would love for her to go the the Christian School that side as they have such a good rep, but they don't have any places and we just cannot afford no matter how we look at it.

Thanks for all the advise. I'm sure we will get through this some how. When she is 16 I will be wishing she still wanted her mommy around! LOL!
