    Somers School Camp

Just wondering if anyone has children who have been on Somers Camp. DS11 came home with a note yesterday and he would like to go. Only 8 children are selected from his school. It sounds like a fantastic camp, with lots of outdoor activities. How did your children cope with being away for 9 days? He has been told that they will not be together with their friends, which he is a bit worried about but I know he'll make new friends easily. Any information would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Dianne

Well I don't have a child that went, but I did!!!! I loved it!!!! It was awesome!!!

Only one of the girls in my dorm at the time got home sick and that was it.

Ohhhh Somers was the best Dianne, your DS would love it!! The children are encouraged to send/recieve mail while they are there as well. Im sure it has changed in the last 12 years... () but it was such a good experience.

Also when I was there they had a day for family's to visit and you got to show them around and spend time with them!

I loved the animals they had rabbits, guinea pigs etc. Also had cool swings and roap courses!!!!

a friends son went just recently and had a ball.

i went as a kid as well - thought it was great!

the camp runs over two weeks - and the Sunday in the middle is family day - you can go and visit and scope out the camp and things.

it's definitley something worth doing - your son will be with other people but will quickly make friends. lots of aciviies to do and the nine days flies!
