Our country town school where DD is going has 4 prep classes! More than the burbs school I teach at now!
Have I mentioned I'm frustrated!?!? Leaving now and telling myself it will only take a few days to sort uniforms etc one we know where we are going to live
Yeah my first thought was that they must be doing something right! I wonder if other schools close by will have lower than normal prep intake? Crossing my fingers that they won't increase class sizes too much.
Arte that sound like enough uniform wise. You could always get more later if you feel you need it?
Tan hugs darl, hope it all falls into place ASAP.
geez i better shut my mouth! been telling so many people to go there that i've added 2 extra classes! LOL
LOL Ginger yes shut your mouth please  Or maybe start telling people what a bad school it is and maybe a few dozen or so will drop out!
Found out today there are at least 5 from dd's kinder coming to the school. I have had only one person say negative things about the school and I didn't go into it with her as its only a casual acquaintance and it's her brother's ds who is going somewhere else instead.
That's great BR, hopefully having some familiar faces from kinder will be good for you DD. How is she feeling about school now?
DD's friend from dance class is coming to the same school too, DD is so excited. Her mum is a bit concerned about high enrolments for next year so she rang the school last week and they told her that there are 106 preps and there will be 5 classes of 21 or 22 kids. She said she heard of a few dropouts due to large numbers and that they are going to the other smaller school up the road as they have capped enrolments due to their smaller size.
Hi Ladies!
I have only just had a chance to sit down and read this thread!
We have just moved house so it has been busy busy!
B_R :( hope your daughter is feeling better about school xx
Sangie, is E's lil friend the gorgeous tall blonde lil girl??
Tanstar - Any news yet?
Ginger - :shhh: please about the school :P It Seems to be a popular lil place doesn't it!
Ohhhh I pity the teachers! Miss H has a tendency to *watch the clock* for lunchtime! As soon as it goes 12 all I hear is *Mum, it's lunch time! The clock says 12....MUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM* :shakehead:
Hope you wonderful ladies are doing well! xx
We have lunch at 11.30! Dh and I were talking and figure dd will just eat her lunch at recess and have afternoon tea at lunch she bugs me to eat from 11 o'clock.
DD was the same lunch here was 11.30 (still is) but they do adjust! They often eat brain food in the morning from lunch box (fruit) I just make sure she has cereal and toast and a filling but easy to eat play lunch (from my understanding from DD they have a small amount of time to eat inside before going out to play ) lunch time they get 10 mins, though preps get 20 mins before going out.
We have lunch at 12 so I imagine DD will be so hungry by 1.30pm! Good idea to have a filling brekky and play lunch Olive, I might aim for that too.
Nikky - yes the tall blonde girl! Wow she is tall for a 5 year old isn't she? She's almost taller than me I reckon lol  Where did you move to? Are you closer to school?
B_R - hope your DD is feeling better about starting school
Tan - still have fingers/toes crossed for you hun!
Yeah, we moved into Croydon Hills :)
Wanted to be closer to school So now we are only 5 mins drive away! yay yay yay
Hope everyone is going well!
That's great Nikky! Lucky you!
DD woke up with a fever this morning, going to be a long day me thinks :(
Yay Nikky! We are 5 minutes too but too far to walk with the hills. Dd was scared again today so will have to get a tour organised.
Ohh the HILLS! there sure are a lot around this area!
Once the rain stops for longer than 5 minutes, we will hopefully get out and explore the area some more!
Nawwww your poor daughter :( hopefully the tour will help...xx
right near my dad Nikky! lovely area :)
Yes it is a gorgeous area Ginger!
So close to the school and Eastlands!
Love being close to Eastland did our fathers day shopping there this week.
I went to Luther - hills girl all the way, although we lived in Croydon not CH!! :p
Still nothing here - can't wait to get Izzy's uniform, hair ties, books, bag etc.... SO excited! Will be done on the 27th January at this rate  Arghhh can only laugh or else I might just cry!
Argghhh we have just realised we are going to Fiji in Nov and will be missing the first two orientation sessions :( not telling dd as it will upset her hoping she can still settle in ok and that they can work out what class she will suit.
YAY for Fiji, how exciting for you all! I'm green with envy lol!
Bummer on missing the first two transition sessions but there are five all up so it should be fine if you can make those I would think?
Just realised its a little over a month until the first orientation session, wow that's gone quick :o
i know i'm not officially part of this CH thread, but can i join in too?
we have just enrolled ds1 at billanook college - feeling v anxious and nervous about it all.
Of course Ginger, we are all in the same boat with a little one starting school regardless of which school!! The more the merrier ;)
YAY for enrolling at Billanook, I've heard it's a great school. Are they the school that does prep/g1/g2 all together?
I'm also a little nervous and anxious for my DD but I really don't want her to pick on my feelings. She is super excited so hopefully it stays that way. She asked me this morning if we could go out today and buy school shoes lol!
Hi Ginger I have heard good things about billanook too.
Sangie I keep pointing out how excited I am about Dd going to school and I have been encouraging her to play with two of the kinder girls who are going there too. I will talk to the school on Monday, hopefully she will go into a class with kids she knows.
I am trying to hold off on shoes until a bit later, does anyone know what's 'in' these days t bars or lace ups?
BR did you get the letter last term from CH? It had the flier about transition sessions and a form where you can write down the names of children that your child knows. It says they will put each child with at least one person they know.
I'm not getting shoes until January. DD can't tie laces yet so I won't be getting those.
DD had Velcro clarks and now has buckle Clark's!
Ginger :o woohoo that's awesome!! My friends little boy is in prep there too next year!! He did kinder there.
Join in Ginger!! the more the merrier ;)
Shoes! they shall be the death of me!
I have a size 10.5 - 11 foot...Hubby's are size 13.
Miss H is already in size 12's! so no shoe getting for her until, probably  the day before school starts!
Hmmmm seeing as there are a few of us (and by us, I mean our girls) going to CH next year....did you wanna do a meet up before it all starts? with the girls? that way they will kinda know a few other kids other than just the ones from Kindy? Or am I over thinking things?? and woohoo Ginger you come tooooooooooo!
im happy to catch up!
I would love to have a catch up! Finding a day will be the tricky part, we are away from Nov 6-15th, Monday afternoons or Fridays are best for us.
thanks for the warm welcome everyone (and your lovely texts olive :)
yes billanook does combine prep,g1 and g2 all in the one area. it is a lovely looking school, with 32 acres of grounds- great for energetic boys!!
i would love to come to a meet up :)
A meet up would be lovely. What days/times suit you all?
Best times for us are mon/tue arvo or wed.
There is a park at the back of CH that we could meet up at, I can do Monday arvo
i could do monday after 12.30
DD finishes kinder at 12 on Mon so anytime after that is good for us!
Just not this coming Monday.....DD2 is having a heart scan
Oh gosh, hope she's ok xo
I'm happy to do Monday week?
Monday week is good for us, anytime after 12 is good for us too. Was talking to dh the more kids dd knows that are going to her school the better for her anxiety.
Yep, Mondays work here as well :)
After 12.30 as that's when Kindy finishes on Mondays :)
And BR? I agree ... I think it will be great for the kids to know more than the few they know from each of their kindergartens :)
Wow that was easy to find a day we can all meet!
Monday week is good for me too, Olive best of luck for your DD's scan x
Where is the park? On the same street CHPS?
Hope you ally have a great weekend :)
Girls I won't be able to make it this Monday. Ds2 has a doctors appointment at 12. I will try to make it next time though!
