Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Hello! Where are all the other may babes?
I'm sure you will all turn up soon :). In the meantime, this little fella is eating up a storm! I wonder if it is common for boys to eat more than girls? What do the other mammas think?

Hey! Also subbing in anticipation! Is everyone breastfeeding and how is it going? I really want to do it but Im nervous I won't get the hang of it!
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Also subbing!!
Bunny - I'm a FTM, I intend to breast feed and I'm also really really nervous! I want to give it a really good go but I am also not putting any pressure on myself if it were not to work for me! I'm just trying to keep it in my mind to go with the flow!

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Hello lovelies!!
Thanks Bella for telling us about this thread! You're right, I think Elijah will hit milestones around the same time as your bubs - L was a wee but earlier than his due date with most but not by much, and I'm extremely close with my bubs born in May 2012 mummies group.
E is 2+3 corrected today, he's slowly having more awake time and really starting to focus more ion things. No regular smiles but I thunk they will come in a few short weeks. Hea 4.54kg now, put on 390g in a week, so going great guns.

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Hi ladies. I was really worried about breastfeeding too & I'll be honest the first few days are not fun. Had cracked, sore nipples and even expressed a few times in hospital to give my boobs a break but once my milk came in its been pretty good. Mckenzie was weighed today & is just over 3kg now so feeding going well. It does take time though. Feeding takes about an hour or more By the time you feed one side, change, feed the other side then settle. Lucky I have an angel baby & she feeds every 3-4 hours. Can't wait for you ladies to join us in here.

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Hey ladies! I'm here finally! Perfect time to check BB is when you're up nursing your newborn at midnight!!
Breastfeeding is tough, for both mama and baby. You're both learning and it doesn't happen straight away because your milk doesn't come in til day 3-5. My advice for when you first start is get assistance with the LC/MW as soon as possible. At every feed whist in hospital buzz the nurse to come and check that the latch is good, especially if it doesn't feel right or hurts. Expect a certain amount of discomfort, your boobies didn't do this before! Even third time round I have some cracks and grazes which hurt like a MOFO when she nurses but the pain goes away quickly once she is latched on and suckling well. Oh, get some Lansinoh nipple cream and use it ALL. THE. TIME. It will help keep your nipples soft and helps when you do have cracks/bleeding because my nips would bleed and stick to the nursing pad and then omg OUCH trying to peel that sucker off..
AFM - E's cord stump fell off at Day 5 and I wasn't expecting it to fall off until 7-10 days. It looks like an open wound (not pleasing to the eye that's for sure!!) but doesn't seem infected or sore which I was/am worried about. We also had our newborn photography shoot today and omg it's a whole new world with props and little girls.. I can't believe my baby is a week old today! Crazy!
Looking forward to welcoming you all into the May Babies thread!! xoxox

Me too Porsche feeling this could be a June bub!
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Don't anyone feel like they have to go to another thread if they have bubs in June. My baby was two weeks past edd with my first due in May 31/09, but I just stayed with my mates. It bonds everyone when you spend 9 months getting to know everyone.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Thanks Bella would rather stay in here with everyone I know and shared the journey with!
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
FYI ladies - the new bonds suits with the 2 way zippers are AWESOME! No buttoning up what feels like 30 press studs every nappy change, hurrah! Lol
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
I think Coles have a 1/2 price off bonds sale at the moment too.
How are our babies going with day and night sleeping? E had a shocking first couple of nights at home where she would sleep solid during the day and was up every 90mins at night. She's improved a little and is now sleeping 3-4hr chunks at night. When she wakes she is awake for an hour or so which includes nursing one side, nappy change, nursing the other side, burping and cuddling. I'm trying not to cuddle or nurse to sleep in the hopes that she learns to nod off on her own which is what DS2 did very well.
I'm also under the weather with a sore throat and swollen lymph glands in my neck which hurts when I swallow so am on round the clock voltaren and panadeine for the pain. Ive had it about a week now. It's pretty awful :( ah well. We soldier on!
Take care mamas!

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Hoping to be able to officially join this thread by tonight!!
Had a little leak on Thursday night with a continuous trickle since and seeing as though my body has not gone into labour on it's own I will be induced at some point this morning!
Not ideal but at least I will be holding my baby girl this afternoon/tonight :)
Wish me luck!!!

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Good luck emmalee I hope it all goes well. I look forward to hearing your news.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Good luck emmalee, I hope it all goes well. I'll be joining you in induction Monday but because they'll start with the gel they won't break my waters till Tuesday, so I won't have a bub till at least later Tuesday.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Good luck emmalee!
We had nb photos taken on Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing them, although it was a bit of a comedy of errors. As soon as we had ds undressed he just started pooing everywhere! I mean everywhere! In the end we just had to laugh at how healthy his digestive system is ;).
He has had a couple of more unsettled days. I don't think he likes it when I drink coffee. And or he doesn't like the milk in it? Not sure which, but I am restricting my intake.
Also looks like ds has oral thrush, so I am treating both of us with daktarin and I'm taking a probiotic as well as cleaning my nipples with bicarb and water twice a day. Such a pain! But my boobs were getting progressively sorer, so it has to be done.

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Good luck emmalee. Can't wait to hear your news later today.
Shanleem. My waters broke themselves after only 1 gel application for induction so maybe they won't need to break yours.
Bella - that's is so funny about the newborn shots. Mckenzie did the same. She wee'd on the beautiful soft white rug, vomited all over me and the floor mat & poo'd in the beanie. We had a close friend do ours so I didn't feel too bad as she said it happens all the time. I have only seen a few pics so far - newborn shots are just so cute.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Oh good luck Emmalee wishing you a happy healthy birth looking forward to hearing your BA later!
Good luck for Mon/Tues Shanleem hope you also have a happy healthy labour!
Ouch Bella hope the thrush heals soon!
Porsche I guess it's just you and I now? ! Any signs for you? Nothing here just feel baby has dropped lots of head butting my cervix lol tmi! Weirdly my painful practice contractions have eased off, I thought they'd be ramping up. 6 days to due date 10 to induction! Tick tock!

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Congrats emmalee, I'm so thrilled for you.
How did the induction go, I'm hoping you had a good experience with it? And would love to hear about it, but I can understand if your busy with your beautiful new bundle and newborn cuddles.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Thanks girls!!
Just enjoying some snuggles as we speak! :)
Shanleem- induction was ok :) although I have nothing to compare to because this was my first! :) I had a little trouble toward the end as they thought my waters had completely ruptured but when they were doing an internal later on down the track they found that there were still fore waters so they broke those, once they did that it got really intense really fast because the synto drip was on really high, if they had of broke my waters properly the first time it wouldn't have hit me like a Mac truck! They overstimulated me with the hormones and the midwives were apologizing so much! I ended up with an epi for the last 3 hours (out of 13) and they dialed it down so I could push!
All in all it was a good experience :) and totally worth it!!
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Thanks so much for taking the time to share. Apart from the overstimulation it sounds like it went really well. I'm really hoping for a similar outcome.
I'm still hanging onto hope that things might kick off naturally but if not I'm not so worried now, only one more sleep till it all gets rolling.
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
EmmaLee - Huge congrats babe...so happy for you xxx
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
Aww BR poor sick bub hope she's better soon.
Footsteps that's great Jason is popping on the weight. I'm sure he will blossom and thrive now he's in his mamas arms!
Emmalee congrats again sounds like you had a good birth and like you said totally worth it now you have beautiful Amelia here!
Best of luck Shanleem not long to go!
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
To be honest shanleem the induction actually helped me with the anxiety I had about labour, because I knew every 30 mins the drip would be turned up and that would mean that my contractions would get stronger and I was able to mentally prepare myself! I just tried to keep my mind clear and focused, I'm excited for you :) don't fear an induction or feel like you have been ripped off because if you end up with a bubba in your arms, no matter how It gets there, you still have birth to your little person :)
-
Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
What a great attitude Emmalee! I was dreading induction too but you've changed my perspective and im feeling better about it now thanks mama! :o
-
Babies born ~ May 2014
Congratulations emmalee! Enjoy your little princess! Glad it all went well for you.
BR - I must have missed that you were sick. I'm sorry to hear that hon. And even worse that your bubba is ill... Poor bubba :(
Footsteps - glad to hear Jason is doing so well. That is awesome!
Shanleem- good luck for tomorrow! How many weeks gestation are you now? Won't be long till you are holding on to your bubba! Yay!

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014
I'm 41+4 today. At the hospital at the moment doing our daily monitoring. Have had to do two lots of monitoring today, cause she's been too excited, and heart rate sitting a bit high.
