Ok well I hope bubs is ok. If it makes you feel better, 41+4 is the most common day for a first time mum to go into labour :)

Congrats emmalee.
Good luck shanleem I can't wait to hear your news.
Will try and jump on later and catch up properly.
BR - Sorry to hear you're sick! It's hard enough adjusting to a newborn and 2 older kids, let alone being sick swell. Hope it buggers off for you soon. There are 4 E's in the group now - Eloise, Elijah, Edward and Ella :D E's sleep is quite good, a bit sporadic in the day but I do sleep, feed, play…I just try and resettle him back to sleep if he wakes earlier than 3 hourly. At night he sleeps for at lest 6 hours after his last feed - so if he has a feed at 8:30 he will sleep till 2:30-4am, then back down till 7-8am. Cannot complain there!
Shanleem - Best of luck for your induction! Can't wait to hear of your long awaited princess's arrival!
Bella - Oh that sucks about the thrush. At least you know what's what being a nurse and all! I hope E doesn't have problems with any food or drink, and he was just a bit unsettled just cos! lol
Emmalee - congratulations!!! I hope you're enjoying those beautiful newborn cuddles….how does it feel to be a mama finally?
Footsteps - Sounds like Jason is doing well, that's a great weight gain. Yes, I'd go by corrected age and not actual age, unless your care provider says otherwise. DS1 was born at 35+5, and whilst he reached his milestones on target for actual age, the doctors always went by corrected age until he was 2.
Things are just chugging along with us. E is a little darling. He's finding his lungs though lol not sure if I mentioned that he has a cow's milk protein intolerance and reflux - but thankfully that's being managed with a specialised formula and gaviscon. I'm almost out of expressed breast milk, and breastfeeding didn't work out for us. We made it to 12 weeks of breastmilk (and some formula) and that's the farthest I've ever gotten, so am proud of our efforts.
Well ladies I'm back staying overnight at hospital. Had dr appointment this morning and was taken to theatre 2 hours later for d&c. Dr seems to think he had got all of the left over placenta now but I started bleeding again - that's why I'm in overnight - just in case. I'll be continuing antibiotics for another week but am hoping that's it. Mckenzie gets to stay with me in hospital - feels like I never left - except I'm on a different ward and all the nurses keep coming in to look at Mckenzie.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Beau that sucks being back in hospital so soon. At least you have your little bundle with you!
Any news Shanleem and Porsche? ?
Induction day today as bp is high and creeping up so docs worried about pre eclampsia. Going in for 7pm tonight. Can't believe time is here, scary exciting!
Good luck Bunnyfeet! Sounds like what happened to me. It will all be fine & your little bundle will be in your arms sometime tomorrow. Has your dr advised epidural. Mine told me to because of the pre-eclampsia. You will be bed bound anyway because of monitoring you and the baby. It was the best thing ever
Any news Shanleem & Porshe?
I am home safe & sound. A little sore but hoping I can start getting back to normal now.
Glad to hear your home beau, hopefully your real recovery can begin now.
BF all the best for your induction I hope it goes smoothly.
No bubs yet, had a long night last night. Couldn't have 2nd lot of gel cause I started contracting, but then they died down, so had a double dose of gel late this morning and waiting to see if it works. The aim is to break my waters first thing tomorrow morning now, unless things progress on their own. Got very overwhelmed this am, and pretty emotional. Am hoping for a smoother night tonight and hopefully not too many more VE's they're very ouchy. My bishop score is only 4 so hoping for some good progress in the next 18 hours.
Hang in there BF!! Thinking of you!!
Oh Shanleem you poor thing. I can imagine you were over whelmed. Hang in there hun I hope you get started really soon! I've just had my first gel so we'll see how things go...
Thinking of shanleem and BF!! Hopefully you get to meet your babies today!
One has that I know of but I'm keeping mum on who!
Adam James born 4.36pm today 28th May 7lbs 6oz I'm in love! Tough labour have 3rd degree tear but totally worth it! !
Woohoo! Yay BF! Congratulations! You got a blue one!! Enjoy your bundle of bliss!
Same for you porche! Well done ladies! Welcome bubbies!
Congrats BF and welcome to the world little Adam.
Massive congratulations BF, wow I think I was expecting a pink one for some reason!! Sorry to hear about the tear you poor thing. Hope you're enjoying those newborn cuddles.
Wow, all of our bubs are here, and just before may ended.
Oh congratulations BF!!!
That's all our bubs here right?
How is everyone going?
We are on day 5 here and everything is going really well.. Not to jinx myself or anything!
Millie is such a calm and content bub, barely cries or make much of a fuss at all. Hoping she stays this way haha
Downstairs is feeling much better than expected as well, considering the stitches and all..
I still can't believe I'm a mum now.. I just keep staring at her and thinking wow is this tiny little thing really mine? Did I really make that?? Haha so surreal.
Hope everyone is recovering well!
Emmalee, we are still waiting on shanleem :). Fingers crossed for any moment now.
Yay BF!!! Well done on producing a little bundle of blue and welcome earthside little Adam :loveshower:
So Ellie is having some gas pain and it seems to be worse at night. Poor love. As a result she doesn't like to be put down after 5pm and is up and down all night. I've been bringing her into bed with us in the wee hours of the morning just so we can get a block of sleep longer than an hour. Seems to be helping.
She also has an infected fingernail which is causing her some pain. We had a wound nurse look at it yesterday (who also happens to be my sister) and she said it was bad but looks as though it's on the mend. So we are using betadine, breast milk and letting it air to dry out.
Other than that she is now 2 weeks old and I'm starting to feel physically better so am looking to start walking with her to shed the baby weight. Went for a walk with a gf and her 3mo this morning. Was good to get out and move.
Question: what is the bleeding supposed to be like after 2 weeks? Some days I'll get hardly anything on a pad and then other days it will be like I'm on the 1st or 2nd day of my period. I know it's supposed to last up to 6weeks but I just expected it to get lighter and lighter and not have this stop start business.. Anyone have the same?
Shanleem welcomed little Alexis to the world... Our babies are all here!!! :hooray: :leap: :loveshower:
My birth story is up! Under pregnancy and labour-> birth -> birth stories :) :)
BR - yes my lochia did exactly that this time - I thought it was gone by day 14 - wrong lol it was then stop start till just over 6 weeks. I'm 12.5 weeks post partum and got my first PERIOD 3 days ago! My milk hasn't even dried up and I only stopped expressing a couple of weeks ago :(
Thanks Ashlee. I was thinking there was something wrong like retained placenta or something because I'll have a bleed and then nothing for a day or so, then another big bleed. I've booked an appt with my OB for 6 weeks PP and want to get a Pap smear so hopefully it's cleared up by then. Sorry that AF has come back. My first AF after going birth with DS2 was so painful.. Like I was having afterbirth pains again. I am
Not looking forward to that!!
How is everyone healing up *down there* ? I recovered pretty quickly :)
Mine is doing that too BR. I can go a day with barely anything, then I feel a gush and it is fresh, but I don't think it is something to worry about. And like you, I need to get a Pap smear done.
I am still loosing weight. I am 2.7kg less now than I was when I got pregnant, but I was pretty overweight before, so I am just pleased to see the kg coming off. We are still just eating paleo mostly. Not dieting cos I eat as much as I want, just not eating certain types of food.
Mine seems to be dying off aswell, and is quite light.. I've just swapped to regular pads rather than the maternity pads so at least is doesn't feel like I'm walking around with a pillow between my legs!!!
Also down there seems to be healing quite nicely, although it was never overly painful.. And I was stitched in two places!
Finally getting into the swing of breast feeding after a few appointments with a lactation consultant and some sore sore nipples we are finally getting some good feeds under our belt :) (with the help of a nipple shield and a very supportive/encouraging hubby)..
Day 2 cluster feeding all day OUCH! Normal for day 2 or have got a hungry boy??
Totally normal BF, he's just trying to bring your supply in
Yeah normal, but just make sure he has a good latch. If it hurts slide your little finger in and distach him and let him relatch or your boobs will get sore and grazed. And make sure you ask for help from the mw's if you arnt sure.
Congratulations Bunnyfeet, Shanleem & Porsche. Hope you are all enjoying newborn cuddles.
Bf - day 2 was the worst for cluster feeding & all she wanted was boob all night too. I resorted to the dummy early hours if morning after bad night. It gets a lot easier & your boobs feel a lot better once milk comes in (day 3).
BR - I am still bleeding one day heavy one day light too. I did have retained placenta though & just had d&c monday so not expecting the bleeding to stop just yet. As long as there are no golf ball size clots it should be fine. I knew I had retained placenta & was so uncomfortable I knew I had infection. Ring your dr/midwife if you are worried - that's what they are there for.
I hate pads can't wait to not have to wear one!
Hope the rest of our may mummas are doing well. It's my birthday today so enjoying my day with my family
Hi everyone, sounds like you're all doing really well.
We came home today, so we're finding our feet and settling in. DH has been amazing already, he ordered me off to bed for a couple of hours sleep once we got home and had a feed. Feeling so much better for it.
We're having some trouble with lazy attachment so working on that at the moment, dom nurse comes tomorrow so will be asking for a little advice. Milk came in today too, so very heavy and hot boobs. I'm thinking of expressing a but just to keep comfortable, anyone got any suggestions about whether this is a good idea?
I'll come back later to catch up in where everyone is at and tell you about the labour, but long story short I technically had a 3 hour labour and a 2nd degree tear. Prostin labour was VERY intense.
How amazing that all our bubs are now here. I can't believe how much I love her already, it's crazy!!!
Happy birthday Beau!! Hope you're having a wonderful day xx
Shanleem - I would express to ease the pain and discomfort and also good to have the breast milk available in the freezer should you need it for whatever reason. I now try to pump after the 6am feed because E is only nursing off one side before she gets full so my bewbs are full and sore too. I have a few 100mL in the freezer now which makes me feel better.
So, E has had some yellow discharge coming out of her right ear today and her finger nail is infected so ended up taking her to the GP this afternoon. She now has antibiotic steroid ear drops to use over the weekend and I'm to report back on Monday to the GP to confirm if the symptoms have cleared. GP also took a swab so will know what the bacteria is and can treat it with other Abx if needed. Poor little girl.
Thanks girls. Yeah he's still cluster feeding but im so raw im expressing and syringe feeding him here in hospital. Think my milk is coming in today. I feel raw - should I be feeding through the pain or giving them break with expressing?
Sorry to hear E is not well poor little mite hope she heals quickly
Aww bunny you poor thing, same thing happened with me, I just didn't have enough milk for my girl at the start and she just wanted to feed all the time because she was hungry and my nipples were so sore, every time she would latch I was in agony.. I started using the syringe and then when my milk came in I started feeding her again, I am using nipple shields which are absolutely amazing.. (Me and bub both have a few issues regular feeding between us) ..
I would definitely give your nipples a break if you need to.. Either express and give her a bottle (when you milk comes in) or use the syringe and finger feed (the midwives can show you this if they haven't already)
Hope everything gets better for you soon!
Has anyone else's little one got a very red and sore bottom? Milly has.. We have been using sudocream on it at every change.. Hoping it gets better soon.. It looks so sore.. :(
BF - for sore boobies I used moo goo's nipple cream. 100% natural and so soothing. When you can, also coat your nipples in breast milk and let them dry.
Em - both L and E got really sore bottoms when I are lots of sugar or acidic foods. I swear by sudocrem but have heard great things about the moo goo nappy rash cream. Giver her nappy free time so her bum has time to dry and breathe is helpful too.
BF - I swear by Lansinoh. It's thick and soothing and you don't need to worry about washing it off before a feed. I agree also that applying some breastmilk and letting them air dry. It does get better Hun, I promise xx
We started ear drops last night with Ellie and she seems a little more settled. We got a 4hr and 3hr block of sleep last night and she is settling quite quickly. Still she had quite a lot of white creamy discharge coming out of her ear. I guess I'll find out on Monday what the treatment plan is after we get the culture results back. She also has an infected finger which my dad had a look at today (he just happens to be a hand surgeon!) and he said to continue to use betadine drops and only change the dressing once a day. It looks so painful though.. Really really bad :(
Anywho, we will persist and revisit next week if it's still the same.
BF - huge congrats on the arrival of Adam, sorry for the slow response I'm just finally catching up on where everyone is at.
I agree with BR lansinoh is great, I have been using it on my cracked nipples and it works a treat.
'A' has not been attaching well and has done some damage to my nipples to the point one was bleeding yesterday. I have a referral to the lactation nurse for some help but in the meantime I'm using the lansinoh, nipple shield and expressing up to one feed per day to help reduce and heal the damage.
BR - I hope little E's ear and finger improve quickly. I may have missed reading but what happened to her finger for it to get infected?
Ashlee - your pics on FB of E are sooooo gorgeous you must be one super proud mumma. He looks like he's going absolutely great guns with the weight gain, yay.
Emmalee - I've been using sudocrem at almost every change just as a preventative. My SIL swore by it and by using it regularly it stopped any redness or rashes before becoming a problem. The only time there's ever been a problem has been during teething.
Bella - your amazing to be back and under your pre-pregnancy weight. I am hoping I can get back there really soon. I weighed myself on Friday when we got home from hospital and I had lost about 5-6 kilos, which means I have about another 6 to go. I ended up gaining around 12 kilos all up in the end.
So, we've had a few tough nights so far, A started cluster feeding on the first night home from about 1am - 5am, so very little sleep was had. Next night was the same but a bit more prepared, and managed 5 hours straight sleep for everyone once the cluster had finished. So, come last night I was mentally prepared but the cluster feeding didn't continue as before, she just cried her little lungs out for no apparent reason. Luckily DH had the touch and managed to calm her at 4am, while I quietly lost my s$@t and had a big cry. I had no idea feeling so helpless would be so heart wrenching and hard. She finally went off to sleep after another feed at 7am and is still asleep now.
I'll be trying to catch a few extra 40 winks today to too up the sleep reserves, I'm running on almost empty at the moment.
We also bought our dog home yesterday, he had been staying with my folks while in hospital. Their introduction was reasonably successful, but will have to be closely monitored. It's a big adjustment for him, but I think it will work out. It's just unfortunately added another layer of complexity to an already challenging situation.
Well that's enough whinging, the good stuff...I just absolutely LOVE her to bits, even in the hard moments I still manage to look at her and she makes my heart melt. DH this she's just the bees knees and comes up with the cutest nicknames for her. He's going to be an amazing dad.
Sorry for the huge post, just trying to play catch up and have a vent.
I hope your all recovering well, have behaving bubs and enjoying your newborns. And if your not that you are at least getting some support and know your not alone. XXX
I meant to add, if anyone wants to connect on Facebook, just pm me and we can exchange details.
Sometimes you feel so helpless Shanleem. E has wind pain now and when she is trying to fart she cries so bad. Then she farts and she settles right down. It's hard when the only way they can communicate is through crying. You'll soon figure out their hungry cry, painful cry etc but for now it's a bit of a guessing game.
So, turns out E has strep A ear infection so she is starting antibiotics for a week. Her finger is starting to clear up thank goodness. (I pulled a piece of skin off the side of her nail, the quick and it became infected Shanleem). Have also started her on infants friend before feeds to help with her wind pain which actually seems to calm her down a bit when she seems super fussy and sad. I am reading conflicting things about eliminating stuff from my diet so I'm in 2 minds about doing it.. So we'll give the meds time to do their job and hopefully she settles a bit more overnight.
BF your msg inbox is full, so I cannot reply to your msg.
Hi lovelies, thought I would try and catch up while I have 5 min.
BR I'm sorry to hear your E has been unwell. I hope she is on the mend soon.
Shanleem my miss E was so unsettled waiting for my milk to come in and had done some damage to my nipples. We have turned a corner now thank goodness. There is nothing worse then listening to them cry and being unable to help :(
Bella awesome work on the weight loss. I'm a couple of kg off pre preg weight.
I hope everyone else is well and settling in with life with a newborn.
All is good here. We had a rough start with feeding and I've been unwell but all is good now. Miss E is just beautiful and I could spend my entire day just cuddling her.
What did the ratio of boys to girls end up in our little group? I can't believe we have so many E names too lol
