-
*pokes belly*
C'mon out .. I want to join this thread!
-
Well someone's gotta start!
I'm too shy to start again in september, so you october gals are stuck with me! LOL
Luella is 9 days old today and all is going well. She sleeps well, feeds every three hours and makes loads of ****ty nappies. (Has christened me with one projectile poo, and i am sure she was smirking about it.) So nothing really to complain about, but have been on the verge of tears for three days now, pressuming i am experienceing the normal baby blues and not some kind of early pnd. i don't want to leave her behind anywhere just yet!
Had 3 hours straight sleep this am and feeling a million bucks.
Having a few random thoughts:
Nipples a little sore, but bearable.
Don't like strangers touching her.
Vjj feeling good, coccxy still really hurts. Even sneezed without incident yesterday!
How's everyone else coping?
-
Hi Ange
My bubs hasn't arrived yet, but since you have posted, thought I'd say hi. Like some of the later Oct ladies been lurking in the early Oct group so already know of Luella's arrival. Love the name. I'm glad she is treating you well so far. You make three hours sleep sound like a luxury!!
Can't really comment on anything as this one is my first. I'll be warned about the projectile poo. I'm having a boy so probably got to be prepared for both types.
Hopefully bubs won't be too far away, but kind of think he's too comfortable in there atm.
I'm sure the Oct ladies will start moving over here soon.

On yay Ange for starting the group!
It sounds like Luella is going really well at the moment. How long does she generally take to feed?
Have you got some cream for your nipples before they get too sore? oh whats the name of it, starts with L and its a purple tube? if you dont know what i am talking about i will go find the tube and let you know, does great things for sore and cracked nipples though!
I hope i can join you soon, and if i end up with a Nov bub i will no doubt stick with the oct buddies cause we've been through the whole journey together!
-
You girls are stuck with me as well.
Everything is going well here, expect Maddi is having wind problems.
She's not one for burping nurse said some babies just don't burp they fluff.
Maddi seems to be in so much pain sometimes & i hate that i can't do anything for her :(
-
Poor little munckin! Luckily luella doesn't seem to have that problem Mo, she burps and farts as good as her mother!
-
Does anyone know if there are rules about having a bath after giving birth? Sounds like a stupid qn, probably is! But would love a bath.....
-
hi girls,
well i now know im normal after reading your post ange, have been teary too, nipples sore and myles is great at peeing everywhere and doing super poos!lol
we have started to settle in well he is feeding really well, has a fondness for the right boob though! so my left is sometimes double in size, so loving the breast pump!
I know my OB said no baths but i had stitches so dont know! Im not very sore anymore which is great but stii very focused on the stitches! Dont like to laugh or cough very hard!haha!
im the same i dont like strangers even certain friends touching him!
He has a bit of an icky eye and had to go to the gp today and get some drops which isnt nice but hopefully it will clear up soon!
lilly i hope you can get maddi some relief poor little love, they look like there in so much pain and it breaks my heart!
have had lots of broken sleep, but he sleeps for at least 3 hours at a time which is great!
well off to change yet annother nappy!
-
Ange i know when i had Chels they hossy suggested warm bath with a bit of salt....and i never done it in fear it would hurt!
-
Ooo, its nice to have some more friends popping in here.
Amber- its nice to know someone else is teary too! i read 80% of woman suffer from baby blues, so i guess we are not alone! Funny about the boob, she likes my left more than right!
Luella just had a bath with me, she loved it. i had a couple of stitches but i figure they are damp down there anyway! I just didn't add any soap or anything.
Gotta run, feed time .....
-
you cant help the teariness, it will go away guys but just ride with it. Im sure you guys will all be comfnorting us in a few weeks when we're at the teary stage.
I hope Myles eye clears up soon Amber
-
Amber Maddi had sticky eye & we had to use the eye drops as well, her eye is fine now but the midwife said she'll most likely get it again so to use warm salty water to clean her eye if it gets sticky again & to only use the cotton ball once then throw it out.
I had the baby blues as well still get it now but it is getting better.
Maddi still getting wind but it's doen't seem to be as bad now, she's been burping a little bit more so that's made us both happier :)
-
Mo- maddi looks soooooo cute in your ticker! Like a little princess! Luella has hardly been out of bonds wondersuits, what a boring mummy i am!
-
you girls have the cutest little girls with so much hair! poor myles has none really!
Ange i bought myles a little outfit today from pumpkin patch its so cute but dh wouldnt let me get anything else cause he is being practial saying " he will grow out of too soon" but im sick of the wondersuites and boring singlets, cant wait to dress my lil man in some funky clothes!
mo myles eye is getting better, we have been wiping like you said but with cooled boiled water, hopefully it will get better soon i hate putting the drops in :(
might go catch some zzz while he is down and dh is here! x
-
Phil says the same thing Amber, but i just ignore him i wanna dress my little girl up.
Think he may take the key card off me soon lol.
Glad Myles eye is getting better :)
Ange i couldn't help myself the outfit was just too cute to pass up buying she looks even cuter in person when she's wearing it.
Can't wait for the warmer weather then she can wear more dresses.
MOst of the time Maddi's in wondersuit as well.
Is Luella in 5x0's?
-
mo great avatar! im thinking of joing up as a life member too!

-

-
That was quick only joined up yesterday, Thanks i love it too :D
Amber i can't sleep during the day either & if i do fall alseep it's only for 20mins or so..
-
yeah, i am wide eyed and bushy tailed in the day and exhausted at night! Have to retrain the body....
I too love your new Av Mo, very spunky!
-
Can I join in too? Theodore is 5 days old, we came home from hospital yesterday, and just trying to get into the swing of things.
On our last night in hospital, he wanted to feed every hour and a half! It drove me nuts, and I thought "how am I going to do this when we get home?"
He was pretty unsettled during the day yesterday, and wanting to feed every 2 hours. He had his last feed at 9pm, went straight to sleep, then woke at 2am for a feed, then not again til 6! I feel like a million bucks today!
-
hi qhi, feeding every 1 and half hours! OMG, you must have been exhausted! But nice overnight feeding ast night Theo, WTG.
Luella slept 4 hrs between feed last night, woo hoo to that as well!
On a not so woo hoo note, i have a huge crack in my right nippple, no wonder it hurts to feed on that side! i couldn't work out why it hurt so much, until closer inspection. *gets out lansinoh and slathers on*
Hope Myles and maddi slept well too. xxx
-
Maddi & i had a crap night She woke every 2 hours, then woke at 8am & didn't sleep till 1pm.
Well she did sleep for 30 mins. Just woke up for a feed not long ago.
fingers crossed she sleeps well tonight...
-
welcome Qhi and Theodore!
Mo i think we had the same amount of sleep last night! i Had a good 3.5 hrs today though so feeling a bit better!
Ange how much does the cracked nipples hurt! i have just got over my left being cracked but it still hurts for the first 10 secs or so that he latches on! That bath sounds divine! cant wait to have one with myles!
Not much happening here! Myles eye is slowly getting better! We went out yesterday and bought huggies nappies in bulk! We tried the Nature care (i think) but they are just not as absorbant, i am really bummed cause i really wanted to try and be Green IYKWIM. We are going to try to start using cloth when he is about 6 weeks, hopefully by then i will be a little more organised! But the huggies are so good cause he wees all the time they keep him really dry where as the others would leak!
Anyway have to get the dog inside there is a big storm coming!hope you all get some half decent sleep tonight!
-
How did you fix your cracked nipple amber? I am lansinoh-ing and airing out. But man i have to bite my lip for the first 10 seconds!
BTW Myles is just gorgi-pie, even if he is bald!
Mo- i hope tonight is easier.
Its funny we spend so much time thinking about the birth, that i didn't really think about the after bit!
Happy long sleeps to all. xx
-
ange i just let it heal naturally just by rubbing breast milk on it! it was awful cause i expressed a bit and it was full of blood and i panicked! but looked it up and its ok if there is ablood in it cause he has been living off my blood for 9 months! well thats what it said anyway! it still hurts a bit at the start but its not cracked anymore!
I have thought about the birth abit as it didnt really go how i wanted and was feeling a little dissapointed with myself for not being stronger, but after a chat with my Dr and dh i felt better! Dh said it was the most beautiful thing so i have to keep telling myself that it was and at least i have a healthy baby!
sorry for the ramble!
Hope you had some ok sleep last night girls!xo
-
Amber are you going to share your birth story?
I got 6 hours sleep last night so better than the night before :)
Hop everyone else got some decent sleep...
-
mo do you mean in the birth story section? or just in here?
Well a reall compact sort of version is.... Started getting period type pain on the saturday night and was up every hour feeling like i needed the toilet! about 6am the next day the contractions were getting more regular and more painfull, by 8.30 they were very close and regular. So at 12.30 rang hospital again and they said to come in!
was coping ok with the pain and was sent to the ward as was only 3cm! We stayed in the ward from 1pm to 6pm when the pain got too much! by they way by this time i had forgotten all the things i had read and was concertating way too hard on the pain and the negativity it had on me, than trying to move around and breath!! so at 6pm we went to the birthing room and i started on the gas!
At 9pm the midwife broke my waters and gave me the pethadine shot and Myles had pooed inside so they had to monitor him in case of distress! I couldnt even move i thought the pain was that bad! see this is why i think im dissapointed in myself cause i couldnt handle it!
so at 11 pm i had an epidural! considering i didnt want any drugs at all i was screaming for it! I think at this time i kinda gave up! i was exhausted and in pain! Once the epidurial went in i felt at ease with the pain but very nervous as you cant feel your legs!
It would have been about 1.30 am or so that i got the urge to push! so i started! it was so hard as you have no feeling! His head kept going back in and he hadnt quite turned properly so they offered me the forceps! After talking it over with DH we decided it was best for baby! so unfortunately they cut me to insert the forceps and in one push Myles head was out!they had to clear his airways in case of meconium and with another push he was out!
Gee it wasnt as short as i thought sorry! So after wanting the most natural Birth as possible i had it all! drugs forceps and stitches! I supose hindsight is a wonderfull thing, cause after being through it i belive i would be able to handle the pain!
But he was out and healthy which was the main thing!
sorry it was long, i try not to think about it too much, the first couple of nights it consumed me and i even had nightmares! but its true that once that baby is in your ams you forget it all!
-
Amber, there is alot of pressure for women to give birth without pain relief, particularly on some websites...... Although it may be 'ideal' to have an in intervention free birth, it is no always possible. There may be some downsides to the pain relief and small effects on the baby, but everyone is so totally different and they do have their place.
Who know's if the contractions you were feeling were more painful to you than someone elses contractions. And you were in labour for a long time. You should not feel at all dissapointed or weak or anything else, you did the best you could at the time, and maybe next time it will be different, but you should be so proud of yourself for making a beautiful little bub and bringing him into the world safely.
Don't be so tough on yourself, and don't worry about what other people think.
A quick story- my gf had first bub 8 hr labour no drugs, no dramas. 2nd bub was posterior she had longer labour, gas, pethadine and an epidural. She said the pain was SOOOOO much worse for her 2nd. So it goes to show, pain is not always the same for everyones birth.
You should have seen me! I bawled when the OB told me i had to be induced and have an epidural due to my BP, and i wasn't even in labour! I too wanted as intervention free birth as possible, i read all the books, paid a fortune to do a course, but it didn't work out for me either.
In the end Ob had to use forceps and i have a couple of stitches too!
Although my birth was nothing like i had intended, i did the best i could. And so did you. And what a gorgeous little man you have! I think woman feel bad b/c of the unspoken and spoken pressures surrounding them leading up to the birth. There is a 'gold star' associated with birthing naturally, which is fine as long as it doesn't make people feel like they failed if they had to have drugs.
Having a natural physiological birth can be a goal, but the health and well being of mother and baby has to be the most important thing.
I know i am ranting on but every woman who gives birth by whatever means should be as proud as the next. After all you have just grown a whole little person, that is pretty impressive if you ask me!
Pep talk over, Lu needs some boob, damn it, up to the cracked nipple side! OUCH! She slept from 11 until i woke her to feed at 3am then slept until i woke her at 7am. What a champ!
-
thanks ange i feel better now knowing im not alone!
Go luella sleeping all that time! Myles has his big sleeps during the day which is a bummer may have to start keeping him awake abit during the day! but it seems so cruel! Maybe luella could have a chat with myles to get him sorted!lol!
-
i wake her to feed during the day, so she feeds about every 3 hrs, seems to be working! Fingers crossed.
I'll send her over to talk to Myles about it!
-
I meant just on here & thank for Sharing Amber :)
I agree with Ange you should be proud of yourself, you did the best you could & now you have a gorgeous & healthy little boy :D
I think you did extremely well considering how long you were in labor for.
Maddi's crying must be food time.
Ange wanna send Luella over to talk to Maddi as well :)
-
Well i had my two week app with MCHN today. I didn't really like the lady very much, do i have to go???
Lu has put on a bit of weight, she now weighs just over 3kg about 6lb 1oz.
The lady didn't do much, just weighed her and measured her. Are they supposed to check anything else?
The place was really grotty too, think i will try and go to another one.......
How is everyone going today? I was emotional again yesterday and today, damn hormones, hope they stabilise soon. Otherwise i am ogin to be a big sooki la-la for the rest of my life!
-
Ange our nurse came to our place & she checked Maddi's hips, eye's, hearing, measured, weighed, went over our family history, checked her whole body, talked to me about the baby blues etc..
Our Nurse was great Maddi even poo'ed all over her(Great story for her 21st) & she just laughed about it.
I would change if you don't like her.
Great news about Luella's weight gain :)
-
you guys are lucky i dont get a nurse to come out? well at least i dont think i do? noone said anything at the hospital! i see my ob in 4 weeks as to the peadatrician! but thats it i think?
We had a great night last night compared to the night before! last night Myles slept for 5 hrs woke for a feed for 20mins then back to sleep for 3hrs then another fed for 20 and back to sleep for 3 more! i feel like a million bucks! man i wish he did this everynight!
The night before was really hard! he just wouldnt settle he screamed on and off for maybe 3 hrs! not even the boobie could settle him! i was so upset! but now after last night i have forgotten all about it!
We are off to get some photos done today, the same place i had my belly shots so were looking forward to that! and he is going to his first party tonight and engagement party for some friends but we wont stay long just long enough for the food!hehe!
Hope evryone is well and bubbas are good!
-
I was told at the hospital that a MCHN would be coming out, but that there may be a delay, since it's a "boom time" for babies...All those christmas and new year "special cuddles!" :)
We are having such a nice time here, I almost feel guilty. With Will (whose 4), I was up and down like a yo yo, he took forever to feed, had some unsettled times, hated the bath etc.
Theo just seems to be so much more laid back. I am sure part of that is me being more at ease, and part of it is his personality. I do want to go and get him weighed though, as I am worried he is going too long between feeds at night (7 hours last night)
He is feeding 6 or 7 times a day, has heaps of wet and pooey nappies, no urates, and seems really content...If he is gaining weight, I will stop worrying and count my blessings!
Will loves Theo, and lat night, he asked to have a sleep over in Theo's room, because "I just like being near him Mummy!"
So cute!
