Count me in too! I am halfway through Alister's birth sampler (I had put it away for a while). I've done one for each of the kids - they are in my gallery here on BB. I have a set of 30 little Christmas stocking decorations that I meant to do last Christmas, but I couldn't fine a hoop small enough till just recently. I sit in front of the telly doing mine mostly.
I have a DMC pattern creator that will do all the colours for you - you can even do photos etc. Its so easy to use.
Muppity - I would love it if you could link me with where you got your current project from!
Oh, me too! I actually started when I was 10! (yeah not something I told my friends!) My favourite one I've done is a picture of 3 wolves. I've also done heaps of horses. I really have to get round to getting them framed.
I know captain, I have DS's birth record framed but I did it myself and it doesn't look that great. I think I might take it to a professional framer.
Glad I'm not the only cross stitch lover lol!
I am! I love cross stitching, just dont get enough time to do it! I'm almost finished one to go up in bubs room - is winnie the pooh, tigger, piglet and a few ducks under a brolly with silver rain falling down - just have the rain drops to finishmay be considered old fashioned, but I love it!
I love crocheting blankets too, and love sewing...just never got the hang of knitting haha! I think it would be awesome if more people took up the hand crafty stuffis great for me cause I cant bear to be idle, but can watch a movie happily if I have a needle or a crochet hook in my hand!
put me down as a xstitcher. I started an A-Z 10 years ago, lost the pattern, had a friend find the pattern but still haven't finished it yet! If I could, I would do it 24/7
does anyone know where you can get really good patterns from? There used to be a really good shop in Adelaide years ago that had them. I'm after a birth sampler one for bubs.
Cross sticher here as well, but to be honest I have not touched it since I fell pregnant with number oneWould love to get back to the one I started years ago "Castle Sampler" by Teresa Wentzler (I love her stuff), I have another big one waiting of hers called Fortunate Traveller. A lot of blended threads, so takes a bit of set up to get some stitching happening.
Got into it when I was 12 or 13yo. At High School they had "extra subjects" of an afternoon. We were late rocking up to enrol and all that was left was Danish cross stitch. Not impressed at the time, but really enjoyed it once we got into it.
Are you still in Adelaide ?? There is Gina's which is on Research Rd in Pooraka. Not sure where in Adelaide you are if you live here. Pretty sure Gina's is still there. I was going to take a drive there this coming week as I need 1 thing of DMC cotton that I somehow missed on my online order the other week.
me too
I started when I was pretty young (after my mum taught me how to hand sew, knit and crochet) and I used to make bookmarks for my friends with their name and a little pic on them (self designed)
I did a sampler for DS1 all i had to do was put his name etc into it once he was born.
I used to use graph paper to create my designs ... but then again I have been told I'm pretty crafty like that.
I really should pick it back up again (now with 4 kids, don't really have much time for anything, for instance a blanket I started crocheting for DD who is now 5) but yeah, will get back around to stuff eventually
