Name on Santa Sack

I'm making a Santa Sack for DD (for next year) and I'm wanting to write her name in large letters on the front, can anyone tell me the best product to do this with. Many many years ago I used hobbytex and thought I could use that but I looked in Spotlight and they didn't have it.

I do mine in that glitter gel pen glue only paid $4.95 at the cheap shop but spotlight stock the good ones....

do you know anyone with an embroidery machine?? it's permanent so the Santa Sack can be washed with no fear of it washing off at all...

depending on how creative you want to be, you could possibly applique the name on to the sack, or cross-stitch or something similar...

You could chain stitch it on with embroidery thread (by hand). Did that for DD's first library bag (patchwork) and it turned out lovely.

MIL is a patchwork guru and made a gorgeous Santa sack for James this year. The letters were sewn on by hand with what looks like a "T" shaped stitch if that makes sense? I'm not a sewer at all. I can email a pic if you PM me.

mrsr, I think the T shape stich you are referring to is blanket stich, I don't know how to do it lol, but it looks great!

If you've got a sewing machine, why not use it for machine embroidery? Use a zigzag stitch, but not much length in it ... draw out the name and then stitch over it.

hehehe, go to Myers or summat and ask them for example of how to get a machine to do that ... you'll learn heaps!

yep I agree it sounds like blanket stitch to me, which is a very easy one to handsew.
If you take it to a sewing shop they will probably show you how to do it.

LOL...thanks for that...yeah, come to think of it, it's the same sort of stitch that my mum has used on a few polar fleece blankets she's made up for our kids.
