50 Shades of Grey - Thoughts? Opinions?

So, I know we have mentioned this book in the *what are you reading now* section...

But I am curious to know what people of thought of this particular book.

As for me, after all the hype, I had to read it.

I really am not sure why they refer to it is as *mummy porn* ... as I am sure I have read hotter stuff from my teenage years of Harlequin romance novels!!!

    Sooooo, what are your thoughts???

I liked it for the psychology. And having read a lot of erotic fiction it was nice because it wasn't vulgar or smutty.

Its not going to win any literary awards. But the psychology had me hooked.

FYI there is a thread about this in AO. if you wish to discuss the erotic content please do so there.

I haven't read it yet, but bought all three books because of the hype. I'll have to reserve my opinion until I've actually read them!
At first I heard heaps of positive comments about it, but now I'm hearing lots of negative stuff, mainly about poor writing...but then I read books for the enjoyment factor, not to be a critic and pick them apart!

Havent read it and I have to say it's not on my list of things to read.

I have heard the writing is crap. If I want porn, I'll watch porn. If I want erotic literature, I'll stick to Tobsha Learner.

Ahhh see it's not quite erotic fiction, and it's definitely not porn. A friend of mine put it to me like this... 80% of women who read this will be doing so because they are twilight fans and get hot under the collar because of the sex in it. Then there's the other 20% who read it for the topic of control/BDSM etc. If you're looking for hardcore erotica, or wham bam porn... or hardcore BDSM. You will be disappointed.

It's like twilight... 80% read it for the "love story" 20% were hoping for awesome vampires and were disappointed. Yet you ask the first 80% what kind of vampires they were, and besides being sparkly they wouldn't have a freakin' clue.

I reckon love stories are sucky enough without vampires thrown in

Wonder how much Amazon is flogging them for?

Edit: $9.09 for the kindle version. Dare I bother? Amazon's reviews were less than encouraging...

I liked the hunger games, I also didn't mind twilight when I first read it (can never read it again though), I am trying so hard to read the first book, but the style of writing is really making it hard for me. I find it so bad that I am finding it difficult to get involved in the story.
