Downloaded the sample and have read that. Not intriguing me enough to decide to read the whole book. Hmmm will need to think about it.

I subscribed to this thread when I first saw it appear, was away and on my iPhone so here I am now.

I am half way through the second book. I am loving it. I love a book that keeps me wanting to know, Grey is a very complicated man and it has me wanting to know why. I love a book that keeps pulling me in. The electricity between the two characters is fantastic.
I read it on my Kobo, the reason Ocean Princess has mentioned is why is was not a great seller in hard copy and has become I think the number 1 download for Ibooks.
The "mommy porn" comment is from the US. I would say that would come about as I don't think too many women are in relationships with men who have a red room, or possibly even get the vanilla sex they talk of in the book (even in Australia). I would imagine it may inspire a few relationships perhaps?

I bought the trilogy on my Kobo for $7.99 per book.

Yes. But the writing is far worse than Twilight. I can't believe I actually live in a world where that sentence is possible

    Very much enjoyed this series.

Might apply for AO for a more in depth chat

I've just finished the first one. Very different to what I usually read but I quite enjoyed it. I find the psychological aspect thought provoking and the sexual themes... thought provoking?!

Lol. Thanks for clearing that up.

Det, that'd be great - except I'd be kinda embarrassed to whip it out on the train

Might have to be an at home read!

Just saw this thread. I had a go at it to see what the hype was about. I can see how it would be appealing to some but I couldn't get into it and only read the first book.I personally thought it was terribly written. The bases of the story is good, but I found the characters annoying and couldn't get over all the way it was written.

Was pondering the same thing last night loulabelle. Very interesting concept, but yes poorly written.

Not sure why, but it bugs me that she keeps on mentioning her step dad, I just don't care whether he is a step dad or not. May be that significance comes in later (half way through, he has just presented her with the Audi)

    Ooh, share please.

I think am reading it more so I know what everyone is talking about, but it has made me more interested in seeking out some better erotica once I am finished.

DD1 just picked up my copy
"Mummy, why is this book called 50 Shades of Grey?"
    "It just is sweetie"
    "Well, what is it about?"

So how do you answer that one?
