Ok my first question is stupid but I have no idea how to do baked potato, like the ones in foil that people add like bacon and stuff too? Can you tell I cook the same thing over and over again We love potatoes in our house but all I do are homemade fries or mashed potato. Need some variety.
Second, I have food allergies to mushroom and pineapple so I often have to skip recipes with these foods in them. I would like to try and make a stroganoff though and the only way to do it with my allergies is from scratch myself. Anyone have a recipe that can be easily altered to avoid the mushies?

Not sure on the strog recipe, but with my baked potatoes I usually put them in the microwave (with the skin on) for about 6 minutes, then turn them over and put them in for another 6 minutes. Oh and make sure you ***** them with a fork a few times too.
I then pop them in the oven for about half an hour with a spray of oil on the bottom of the pan, this makes them go crispy but if you don't want them crispy just put them in for about 20 minutes.

For the potatoes, I do tthe microwave thing too, makes cooking time sooo much shorter, but I wrap my taties in some foil to cook them. Then cook them for about 1/2 hr or so (not an exact science!!). I usually put bolegnaise with some bacon in it and then sour cream or cheese on top, mmmm yummo!! Now I want a potato....
Here's a strog recipe, just dont put in the mushies.
Beef Stroganoff
2 tbs olive oil
500g rump steak, cut across the grain into thin strips
1 medium brown onion, cut into thin wedges
2 garlic cloves, crushed
300g mushroom flats, sliced
2 tsp cornflour
1 250g carton sour cream
2 tbs tomato paste
125mls (1/2 cup) beef stock
2 tbs finely chopped fresh continental parsley
400g dried fettuccine pasta
Method
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a wok or frying pan over high heat until just smoking. Add 1/2 the steak and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until just cooked. Remove from wok. Repeat with another 2 tsp of oil and remaining steak. Remove from wok.
Reduce heat to medium. Add remaining oil to wok. Add onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes or until soft. Add mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes or until soft.
Combine cornflour, sour cream and tomato paste in a bowl. Add to wok with stock and stir well. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes. Return steak to wok and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until steak is just heated through. Stir in parsley.
Meanwhile, cook pasta in pan of salted boiling water, following packet directions; until al dente. Drain. Serve with beef stroganoff.
For the most part i do potatoes in the microwave as they are quicker that way but they don't go crispy in there if that is what you are after.
I much prefer them done in the Oven and i just wash them, stab them and put them in the oven on their own (i don't put them in foil as they get crispier without the foil on). It depends on the size really and your oven as to how long you cook them for. It usually takes around 2 hours for mine.
To put the cheese and bacon or whatever in - i usually scoop the potato out and put it in a bowl then mix in the butter, cheese and cooked bacon bits then put it all back in the skins. Yumm - now i want some hehe.
I call these making skins. If i just want a jacket with topping i don't scoop it out i just cut the potato inside and add the butter then put the topping on.
