Century egg?

Oh dear...on Biggest Loser the eat-off challenge was to eat 2 whole Century Eggs!

Seriously they just looked completely putrefacent. Has anyone eaten one of these and can you tell me what the attraction is??

Yeah, except they are not exactly preserved, they're buried in clay and then left to fester, and then dug up and eaten.

Ok, i can imagine that a little bit mixed into a larger dish might work...what exactly does it taste like M21?
