    Correct way to make Chai Latte?

    I've only just started drinking Chai Tea (loose leaf), and I'd love to be able to make a Chai Latte. Do I use hot water and milk, or just warm milk? Is it 50/50, or a different water:milk ratio? Am I supposed to do it in a specific order?

    I always thought "real" chai was quite milky. So if I were experimenting at home, I'd use half boiling water (to steep the tea) and then add hot milk. Plus lots of sugar.

    I'm not sure a chai latte has any relationship to "real" chai, it's basically spices and sugar without the tea element at all.

    MD is right - traditionally it would be made in all milk but I think they put a bit of water in as well - not sure what the amounts are though. I think though that it's up to you how you like it as to whether you want it really milky or drop it back a bit with a bit of water. I have made all different ways and prefer 50/50 myself but I am lazy right now and use the Arkadia stuff!! Enjoy!

    Best one I've made was with a good chai tea mix in milk on the stovetop, bring to the boil then strain into cups. Warning, don't do this straight into cold glass mugs as they will shatter - warm the mugs first!

    Hmm, that's got me thinking now - of steeping the tea in a small amount of hot water, then using milk frothed by the coffee machine to get a nice foam on top with some cinnamon and sugar....gonna have to try that when I get home

    I really love iced chai, hooked on it more than a chai latte - they make amazing iced chai at Confest I was sculling them lol! I want the recipe. Its wasnt too milky, but very refreshing and tasty....
