easy food to eat while family member is in hospital

A family member of ours has been urgently admitted into hospital and will be in over night. I need to take some food for the family to eat there tonight while we wait.

DH says to just grab some take-away, but i was hoping to make something a bit healthier for everyone (only 5 of us).

Does anyone have any ideas? Its too hard to take plates etc there too as there is no place you can really eat....very stuck for ideas.

    Anyone have suggestions?

Wraps or toasties? It'd be easier without the plates, cutlery etc...

Little O - it's confronting when someone close to you winds up in hospy at short notice. I hope they are going better today.

Instant quick meals- hot chicken & salad - either as is, or in a wrap with mayo; quick zucchini slice; really, if you're under the pump even a can of tomato soup & some cheese toasties. I'm sure your instinct is to want to nurture by providing nourishment, but I think the most important part of what you're doing is just turning up & being there. That will give your loved ones more nourishment than all the home cooked dinners in the world.

What did you go with Little_o?

Thinking of you and your family today.

If it were me, I'd probably get some subway sandwiches and a selection of sushi.

If I was going to cook something I'd probably do some muffin sized quiches, vegetable sticks and bread rolls (with butter). And some chocolate brownies. But if it were an emergency, you probably don't have too much time.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Ended up opting for some roast chicken and bread.

Looks like we will be here a few nights so all the suggestions are welcome. I've made a pasta bake for tonight because we now have access to a family room so we can eat a bit easier.
