    Foods for the apocalypse

You're stockpiling a cache of food in the bunker in your backyard.
    What is in it?

No. You can hunt them in the days of darkness using the weapons you buried near your bunker.

Big containers of water would be a good start.
Large crocks of sauerkraut - a great form of Vitamin C - the old way of preventing scurvy on long boat trips.
Beef jerky and other dehydrated foods
    Nuts

In all my apocalypse planning, I never considered that we would be living in a world with no chocolate. Lucky that meteor missed.

Would be helpful to know what sort of apocalypse it is though. Zombie would be a lot different to nuclear winter. With zombies or superbug you could still grow crops, but meteor strike/nuclear events would mean that you wouldn't have the cropping option.

We should stock pile some ammo. Apparently it is going to be in short supply and going up in price 200% in the next few months because Obamas slight change in the gun laws in America has caused a knee jerk reaction and they have bought up large. There was a useless bit of info for you. Entirely hearsay too, I haven't even verified the info.

hmmm shoulda picked up a few while i was over there then...ah bum.

    other than that: whisky.

also we already have 30ish bottles of preserved tomato salsa...a little bit of summer in each one! good for the long long nights of nuclear winters OR zombie apocalypse.

mi goren noodles. love that stuff. i remember after the tsunami they were part of the emergency food kits too. i told DH that it was proof that they were good for you. he rolled his eyes so much i feared they might never roll back.

definitely some chickens and a rooster. they eat the scraps and you get eggs! and an alarm clock.

Doomsday Preppers. Watch it. Hilarious. And a little bit creepy.

Anything dried. Especially herbs. A good dry rub can make even a 3 day old piece of road kill palatable. Apparently. And salt. To preserve road kill. Nothing like a bit of possum jerky. Right?

I agree! According to people on there a water purification thing so you can drink your own urine is an essential too.

Chances are whatever you store will be stolen by the unprepared hordes
So you must have defenses or be out somewhere rural/bush.
