I've eaten it in salads in a similar way to couscous.

I haven't bought or cooked it though.

    It's quite yummy

you can use it in a smoothy or a shake.
    Sprinkle in on your cereal
    Bake it in muffins

You use it a similar way to LSA

You can cook it similar to rice. Boiled or steamed. It has 'shells' that comes apart & a bit of nutty flavour.

The first time I tried it, it was made with rice + ratatouille kinda mix. Delicious. I add a handful into my rice just for texture & diff flavour & something different. Great to use also as base to some salads. (both quinoa by itself and the one with rice)

Great for DH who can't have wheat. Another variety of grain.

I've seen a dark coloured one & light coloured one. Dunno if they taste different though.

It's a seed not a grain, so it's great for gluten free diets.

I replace cous cous and rice and pasta with quinoa all the time, so I serve it with morrocan tagines and casseroles. I also have it in salad.

To cook it, you put one cup in a saucepan to two cups water and bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for ten minutes. It should look like a little letter e when cooked.

If you buy white quinoa, it's pretty fine to eat straight, but other colours I would wash VERY thoroughly, because the coating on quinoa is very bitter. If you cook it and it's bitter, next time wash it more because it should be very tasty!

It's very good for you and your digestive health.

I cook it up for DS all the time, he's been eating it since about 6 months. I buy 3 different ones, the lighter colour, brown and the black/redish colour one. The darker the colour the more antioxidants it has. I find the flavor is stronger the darker the colour too. I cook it using the absorption method just like rice and I cook it well so that it's fairly sloppy for DS. I use it in salad too like couscous. As others have said it can be used as a porridge, as a side instead of rice You could put it in a smoothie but I haven't done that.

*det* I'm interested how you use it like LSA as when it's cooked it's a soft texture. Do you grind them up raw like you gind up LSA? I might give that a go if that's what you do.

I like it in soup. It's awesome with lentils in pumpkin soup. The flakes are also good in baking, like chocolate chip biscuits or bread

I made a salad with it last week and just cooked it in the rice cooker, the same proportions as I use for rice and it was fine.

I use leftover cooked quinoa in quiches and frittatas too. Just saw a recipe for quinoa risotto that I will have to try. And saw one a while ago for choc quinoa cake that I'll have to hunt out too....

I par cook it by boiling, then put it in the steamer with fish, chopped tomato, olives, basil, garlic and lemon juice and steam it for a really easy and yum dinner!
