We're having the ILs and some friends over on Saturday for Yasin's birthday.
I'm not in the mood for yet another BBQ with kebabs and hommus in fact right now if I ever see another BBQed kebab I might just stick the skewer in someone's eye!!
I'm saving myself from doing much work by getting a tray of sushi/nori rolls so I just need a few other easy things to round it out a bit.
I don't mind BBQing just so long as there are no ****ing skewers involved.
Yasin loves sausages so I might do some sausages for the kids.
I've got a couple of ideas but I really need some more inspiration.
Me me me!! Yeah is skewers, but hear me out. (I can't find the picture, sorry)
Take some thin sausage, roll it up and skewer two rolled sausage parcels on a skewer ... BBQ TaDa sausage skewers - well at least it's not beefskewers And the kids love it. You can skewer it in a wave also.
I was also going to suggest butterfly leg of lamb ..hmmmm
BBQ Chicken in marinade
Garden Salad
Roast Veggies
Potato in a Jacket
Itallian baked Gemsquash (I have the recipe on my fridge .. I'll post it if you want it)
Garlic rolls
or
BBQ Fish
Corn on the cob over the BBQ or Roasted Sweet potato
Butternut and cous-cous
Garden Salad
Toast (just butter both sides of a slice of bread and toast on open fire ... serve with loads of home-made jam and cheese)
I think I posted my recipe for BBQ chicken with honey mustard dressing somewhere (the kids always love it) and we serve it with champ (mash with chives) you could do a mega pot and attack it with a hand mixer so no mashing involved (its what we do at big get togethers) and you could even bbq some mushies and asparagus too.
Some sort of burger pattie or mini rissoles with a dipping sauce.
chargrilled vegetable salad
Tandoori lamb chops
Chicken Wings/drumettes marinated or not
Corn on the cob
Chicken Schnitzel is really good on a well oiled BBQ and you could either have them on their own or make a chicken schnitzel salad (a ceasar salad might be nice)
Coles do a really nice chicken garlic ball. They're bite size and you buy them in the Deli section. 30 min in the oven and they're done. REALLY nice but very strong so you'd only want 3 per person at the most!
Caramlised fruit on the BBQ - pineapple work really well.
For the sausages, if you want something slightly different - get the small ones and then matching small buns and let the kids have mini hot dogs.
What about tortillia's on the BBQ - you can make them into chips and then serve guacamole with them.
