Ummm I love the start of the cold weather cause I can buy oats for another winter season of breakfasts!

Always rolled oats here. Sometimes I soak them overnight but doesn't really matter. I cook it with water and sultanas. Then just as it looks cooked I add a bit of cold milk to make it creamy. Like Sambo I like mine thick so I let it rest for a few minutes then dish it out with a dolop of honey, I used to use brown sugar but love honey on it now, with cold milk.

Sometimes I add some sliced overripe bananas just before serving so they are warm but not mashed. Also sometimes some ground cinnamon.

Amazing how many ways people like their porridge!

I think I might try a couple of ways some of you have yours. They sound so yum!!!
We have rolled oats here. The soaking overnight sounds good so I might try that first.

I really did wonder if many people did put margarine in their porriage. I always ask DP why he adds it since he's had it without it before and he didn't say it tasted any different. Lol.

I like it with either sliced banana and honey, or chopped up dried apricot and brown sugar. YUM, I love porridge!

Cook mine on the stove with milk and make it really creamy. I love adding banana to it once its in a bowl and raw sugar. Must be eaten steaming hot though and whats yummy is the banana gets hot too -hmmm

I don't like the instant microwave stuff but my DH loves that more for all the choice in flavors.

    :yeahthat:

Though I use brown sugar and I also like it with pears, or grated apple. Sometimes I have (just) maple syrup on it. It has to be full cream milk too, not skim. And not too thick!
Mmmm, Mmmmm, now I want porridge.......
