Quick Ideas! Love some advice from the fab BB ladies!

DH and I are driving to QLD tomorrow night and obviously dont want to stop and be spending fortunes on what is full of nasties for our darling tin lids.

So, what would you make for a 10 hour drive to keep the kids happy?

I was thinking some cupcakes. We don't have the cooler anymore so it needs to keep well.

Throw em at me, I have a cupboard full of ingredients and not a thought in my head. LOL.

How about some little containers of dried fruit/nuts? Better than lollies and won't have them bouncing around the back seat! Lol.
Can you make some "sweet treats", like a Mars Bar slice, chocolate crackles (might be a bit messy for the car though), or some home-made LCM bars. Could also do some mini muffins if you have a mini muffin pan.

Biscuits - any kind, like jam drops, anzacs - they will all keep well. Muffins or mini muffins, fruit cake, banana or carrot loaf/bread, scrolls with vegemite and cheese....

I would make pikelettes (sp?)... not too sweet (meaning there won't be a sugar rush and come-down... won't interfere with sleeping) and not too sticky/messy... can handle being shaken up a bit... are cheap.... you can take along some butter to spread on them if you like.... doesn't matter if they are dropped, they won't break up too easily.

Cereal trail mix, cheerios, nutrigrain, fruity bites and then savoury added like mini jatz, chengs dried noodles and then add some dried fruit.

Yoghurt dipped dried fruit (if you want I can give you a recipe for your own yoghurt topping) or pretzels.

    Mini Quiches & Mini Pizzas...

Cheese twists - you can buy these at the supermarket or you can make your own just by cutting strips of ready rolled pastry and sprinkling with cheese and twisting a couple of strips together and bake in the oven for about 15 minutes or so. They'll keep in just an airtight container and go well with any dips.

Would you believe I DO have a mini muffin tray! Will hit Exclusively Food for some recipes.

Love the idea of Mini pizzas! I was wondering what to pack for them for a dinner! Need a dough recipe. Can look that up. I have some Ramekin too (actually its a lot!) - so a bit of baking paper can make them mini quiche sized no? DH loves quiche.

I loved pikelets covered in cinnamon sugar. My mum used to make it for us all the time.

I was going to make melting moments, but then I remembered I am vacuuming my car before I leave, lol.

Thanks so much ladies. You are right about limiting the sugar. 5 kids in a car for 10 hours on a sugar high simply can't make for a fun drive. Rather sit on the roof myself! Despite the min 1 temps all across the eastern seaboard!
