I am absolutely loving salad sanger's at the moment. Every day I crave one and I seriously pack in as much salad as I possibly can along with ham and cheese or whatever else I might have...
Some things I like:
Baby Spinach (not a big iceburg lettuce fan) or other leaved dressed or undressed
Alfalfa
Tomato
Carrot
Snow Peas
Artichokes
Avocado
Roasted Capsicum
Spring Onions
So what do you like on your sandwiches? Am I the only strange salad sandwich lover?
I love most salad type stuff on a sanga - and I am glad I will be home this summer as I can make it just before I eat it rather than being interrupted and having my sanga go soggy!
Gotta have beetroot!
Pickles always good too. Otherwise, whatever's going, always grated carrot, usually some lettuce snatched from the garden a few minutes prior! Tomoato, snow pea sprouts, maybe avocado.
Super-fresh tahini or soy mayo.
Roasted vegies and/or fresh herbs if I'm lucky.
And if I'm being particularly decadent, a slab of sandwich tofu.
I love chicken, tomato or sundried tomato, cucumber, red onion, cheese, lettuce and heaps of low fat mayo (which really defeats the purpose of the low fat but anyhoo.. )
i love on my salad sandwiches alpha sprouts and if i could have meat then it would be chicken and then have this toasted...yummy..have lots of mayo as well..its the best.
My favourite- which I usually find we more have for dinner then lunch, cause there rather filling is:-
3 slices of toast-
1st layer with bacon, lettuce and tomato
2nd layer with mayo, cheese, chicken or turkey and avocado - yum!
Another sandwich i love (though haven't made it myself- only bought) is chicken snitzel, coleslaw, cheese and mayo.
