If I get time I am going to bake my Stephanie Alexander Christmas cakes that I give to the parents and PIL's for Christmas. Usually I would have done it by now, but have been busy moving house and also wanted to use my brand new oven for it! Yay! I am sure this oven won't be as slow as the old one - fingers crossed!!

DS' birthday cake - baked it today for tomorrow's barbecue - sticky pineapple and coconut with lime cream cheese frosting. It will be served with fruit salad and mango sorbet. Made with a fresh local pineapple that was so sweet and ripe I just about went into diabetic coma from smelling it. I made (and ate) a test cupcake to see what flavour to do the frosting (was tossing up between lime or passionfruit) and man it is good.

I'm like Astrid and I'm about to do a trial run of the fruit mince pies I want to do for the teachers gifts. Plus I will have to make a cake and muffins for the week ahead for lunchboxes etc. And seeing as how I have cream, I might have to give the chocolate truffles a trial run too

Yum girls!!!!!!! All so yummy!! those birthday cakes are making me want to try to make DD's practise one earlier than necessary now

We baked the cheesecake in our new oven (we just moved house) but I think we had it on the wrong setting because it just woulnd't cook in the hour it was supposed to!! ended up being in for 2hrs instead of 1 and it cracked on top!!!!! Tasted really good though and everyone enjoyed it with some ice cream.... need to work out the oven settings me thinks.... for next time!

I'm going to start looking at what to bake for Xmas gifts this year too.... possibly chocolate truffles, or rum balls or shortbread.... Mmmm!

Shanti, I'd love the recipe! Sounds delish.

For those making rum balls for xmas, the secret ingredient for my infamous but ranted about constantly rum balls - Kingston Biscuits! Shhhhhhhhhh. Secret!

I have to make ours for xmas. I am thinking of making Scones today though. Kids love a devonshire tea arvo. Some of the brownies I made for halloween, without the coffin shaping and decoration, and will start thinking about what else to do tomorrow. I tend to stick to two things a day or DH spends 3 hours in the kitchen cleaning up after me!

We have done a trial run for Christmas Gingerbread House - sooo excited as I have wanted to make one for ages and never got to it. Had a few design issues and DD1 ate half the mixture. Waiting for it to cool - then the fun part!!!!
