Oooh everyone is having fancy stuff!!!

Spag bog here tonight - and I don't have a store bought sauce, so I'm just gonna chuck everything in, close my eyes, and hope it comes out edible.

We're having Savoury Rice Bake - and I'm feeling super organised and proud of myself cos it's all made and ready to just chuck in the oven later. Oh and it's such a big recipe that it's made two so there's one in the freezer ready for another day.

Mags - did you mash the pumpkin and potato together??
Indeed. It was the first way I liked pumpkin - until DH introduced me to butternut, which is yummy any way!

Sounds delish Niliac! We are having chicken too, but a little less on the extravagant. DH wants another Chicken Cacciatore, so I'll be throwing that together tonight.

Haven't worked out dessert yet. chocolate mousse i guess.

OK, question here - how many of us have dessert as a regular thing (eg: every night or nearly every night)? Or more than one course at an everyday meal?

We rarely have dessert now (since we moved to Nth Qld and DP started drinking beer instead of red wine he is not as keen, and I am less inspired to make it if I'm the only one to eat it, especially now that we have a kiddo), but on the rare occasion that we do it is something thrown together like fruit and cheese, or a few pieces of good dark chocolate, or a bowl of ice-cream or sorbet, or I might poach some pears. I used to bake a lot but don't really have the time any more, or maybe it's a colder climate thing? Hmmm, it's got me thinking. Now I want dessert.

ETA: not sure what we are having for dinner. We've been packing all day, so probably something from the freezer. I think there's some goulash in there somewhere. Or Moroccan lemon chicken.

its only an occasional thing in our house, but does tend to happen in runs of 3 ights in a row then nothing for 2 weeks.

tends to be basic thought eg ice cream or cakes bought from bakery, or frozen cheescake rom supermarket or those mini microwave puddings.

Last night we little lemon tarts from bakery with ice cream and tonight or another night this week i have the very yummy king island belgian choc desert things delicious expensive but yummy!!!!!!

I do the dessert thing because it encourages the kids to eat all their dinners. They dictate their dinner portion size too. We used to just do it but we found out our eyes were bigger than their bellies. It was a bit like telling the kids to put on a jumper because I am cold.

I do make them all from scratch so between dinner and dessert I can spend most of the night in the kitchen.

Lauren - I was going to do a tiramisu but couldnt find any mascarpone cheese. Doh.
