Question what's in YOUR lunch box?

im currently recording close to every dollar i spend in attempt to budget *scary*... i spend a small fortune on eating out at lunch time!! so here's my question...

what food(s) do you take to work to last you the day? what are your favorites...? what do you take to steer you clear of the corner shop?

im easily bored of sandwiches and at lunch time always seem to be looking for something hot and comforting, almost like a lunchtime reward... needless to say its piling on the kilos... and emptying out my pockets.

    i need some lunchbox inspiration!!

im now a SAHM but when i worked i loved toasted sandwiches or salad, my favourite salad was mixed lettuce with toms, cheese, avocado, greenseas sandwich tuna (has purple -ly label) and tomy mayo!!! OMG was the bomb!!

I take my lunch on the two days a week that I work.

It varies......but I try and have suitable "leftovers"!

For example, I work on a Monday, so on Sunday we often have a roast, so I know I will have cold roast meet sandwiches.

I also work Thursdays, so Wednesday nights tend to be things that I know will re-heat well.......chow mien is a fave, as is lasagne. And curries. It stinks the office out, but luckily no one minds!

Either way, I always have two bits of fruit to have as well.

    hmmm tomorrow I'm taking...
homemade tomato soup, leftovers of a loaf of bread (for dipping and for toast for morning tea), oats for porridge, a banana, a pear, 2 chocolate crackles.

i work generally Monday to Thursday and going out of my office is a PITA so generally I take leftovers. I have a freezer full and just pull one out or have them from the night before.
On Sundays I try and add to the freezer with a casserole or pot of soup or bolognese, chilli con carne etc.
I'm not a huge fan of salads, so in my office I have a can of baked beans/spagetti in case of emergencies and some cheese in the fridge. I also have tinned fruit in the fridge for my porridge or a snack.

usually a roast chicken sandwich or wrap, with salad if we've got it in the fridge! there is always crackers in my work drawer.

i allow myself to buy lunch one day a week (if i don't have anything i want to take) so that i don't feel like i HAVE to bring lunch. it gets to be a chore if you have no treats!

Soup. Plus, I keep a pack of turkish rolls in the freezer at work to toast and have with it.
I also take some fruit and a muesli bar, or sometimes if I've been particularly housewifey, I'll have made muffins and will take one of those
I'd go with the leftovers too - when I was working fulltime I used to do this when serving our evening meal: Some for DH, some for me, some for the leftovers - just to make sure there was always enough, LOL! If DH was still hungry I'd tell him to have dessert
