In my house there was a strict 8pm bedtime rule for weekdays and a 10pm bedtime rule for weekends. No matter your age. Over the weekends we would watch a movie or play games after dinner, so staying up late were for Family-time only. I still had a bedtime in grade 12 No later than 10:30 for week days. There were the odd here and there, weddings, parents bbq at friends house ect, but for the most, we all knew our bedtime and sticked to it.
Did not make me a bad person for having them.
But I do remember being VERY upset in summer when the sun sets after 8pm!!!!!!

I feel better now for having set bed times. i think because we send Ds1 to bed at the same time as his younger brothers that it was an issue for some people. but yes we know our son the best and know what he needs..

I had a set bed time for years also and it never did me any harm.
