I remember an episode of House a while ago where the girl had blood in her undies, and it ended up being from her trying to shave down there.

I agree with everyone - take her to a caring (preferably female) doctor, and speak to the doctor beforehand...

I would guess its her Hymen breaking, which happens easily enough jumping round on furniture and climbing trees etc.
I had a bleed when I was about 9 or 10 and was taken to GP. I think they tested for a UTI which was negative and that was about it. They told me that I might get AF soon, but I didnt get AF for a number of years later.

I agree with the other that you should take her to the GP just to get reasurance and any further advise.

Inanna - I agree with you 100%. I would be at the doctors with her now except I have no car & the nearest one is in the next town.
The only friend I have who could take us into town has 2 kids of her own & there is no room in the car for mine. I'm hoping mum is on her way out here this afternoon. I'll talk to her about it.

Oh how scary for you! I'm hoping she's all fine and that a simple explanation from her will clearit up. I'd be thinking hymen too maybe?? I doubt it would be AF without any other puberty signs. Thinking of you!

What sort of activities has she been doing lately? Some girls get a small bleed when they tear their hymen - sports, horseriding etc and she just may have hurt herself there, maybe even a scratch?
Exactly what i was going to say.
I was playing on our climbing frame when i was about 6-7 (i know it was before i was 8 cos we sold the house with the climbing frmae then) and i came down hard on one of the poles (not vertical!!) and there was some bleeding... Mum took me to the Dr's and it was put down to my hymen tearing.... still worring though.

Most active children tear their hymen well before reaching an age that it can be torn by sex.

Also could be thrush... scratching down there will cause a bleed as the skin is quite thin...

But second everyone else and say take her to a Dr JIC

could she be constipated and bleed that way too?
That's a really good point, I remember after having the girls, the lochia stopped but my pelvic muscles were in such poor shape (and I'm VERY prone to constipation) that I would bleed every time I went to the toilet, and had to keep wearing liners because there would be blood in my underwear even after wiping properly...
Big hugs to you and your little girl, hope it's nothing too serious and that it is sorted out soon

One thing I just want to mention also is that when I started AF, very late (I was 14 or 15, a 'late bloomer' among my friends anyway), the first couple of days of it were yucky brown stuff and I honestly didn't realise what it was, I thought it was diarrhea - it took a couple of days for it to get more red before it clicked and I asked my mum to get me some pads... maybe if it is blood, but not bright red, your DD thinks she's had a bit of an 'accident' and is hiding it from you because she thinks she might be in trouble for having a skid, kwim?
