When I used to be a checkout chick it was so frustrating when on boxing day the store manager would come down and say "Take down the Christmas decorations we need to start getting things ready for Easter!"

Although I must admit there were a bunch of 200g hollow Freddos with smarties on sale for a $1 each at woolies so I bought a few to stock up on chocolate, since they're not *technically* an easter egg I feel ok about it haha Well, I don't think a big frog should be considered an easter egg, hey I need an excuse to not feel bad about buying cheap chocolate for my chocaholic cravings

And I love the chocolate chip buns from bakers delight.. mm

    OMG!

I like making my own hot cross buns, not sure how to make choc-chip ones though ... still have to get them from Bakers' Delight I guess ... Wonder how I'll feel making them this year, I'm due the week after Easter. Maybe just buy them all.

Have you noticed though they're not called "Hot Cross Buns" in woolies etc, but are now called "easter buns" ???

Love my hot crossies ... with fruit only thanks. I wait until Easter to have them though. Makes them more special.

Kaz, I had heard they were calling them that too. I'm assuming it is another example of political correctness. What a pity their propriety doesn't extend to waiting until the actual religious festival starts in several months time!

I was initially mffed when I saw that the eggs were already in the stores but then I thought, hang on - you either accept the fact that the stores are out to make money and the timing of eggs and christmas deccos and the like has nothing to do with religion, holidays, the "magic of easter/christmas/whatever" or being nice for the holidays. It is about them making money and us buying the stuff. Plain and simple. Once I came to that conclusion I was so much more relaxed about it all. So relaxed, in fact, I "acci-purposely" dropped a Humpty Dumpty egg just to hear the smarties rattle!!!

    My Bad

My bad... I had to buy more bread today so went to Bakers Delight. And they had Hot Cross Buns. I love HCB. I couldn't resist. I bought some home. Oops. I think I'll have to send DH into Baker's until well after Easter otherwise I'll buy them every time!
